GEN 1 Modified floor jack

Not directly related but i have a raptor and parts came from pro eagle.

I decided to bust out the plasma cutter and welder and modify my harbor freight floor jack. The steel casters sounded like a freight train rattling down my drive way whenever i needed to jack up my truck. I don’t use the jack enough or do enough off-roading to justify a pro eagle but i saw they sell the wheels so i decided to retrofit mine with bigger wheels. I cut off the stock axles and rear casters, machined new through axles and welded them in place. Trimmed the front fender for clearance and then powder coated the frame. Looks pretty good to me, now i just have to see if it’ll lift the truck without bending or breaking anything.

Nice work. What are the wheels rated for in terms of weight though? 3 tons of a lot of weight on 4 plastic wheels.

The wheels are from pro eagle so they’re the same ones they use on their jacks

Cool idea and I'm guessing much cheaper than buying a Pro Eagle since everyone has a floor jack laying around.

Very NICE work....but...when all is said and done,your still going under a 3 ton Vehicle with a used Harbor Freight jack....I figured my life is worth more than $425 and bought the Pro Eagle....and might not be seeing right,but mine has way larger wheels in the back,yours looks like 4 of the same size..??

And don’t use the HF jack stands.... most of their recent stands have been recalled due to manufacturing defects.

I did go with all 4 of the same size (6in). If you notice at the back there is a big bolt so i had to space the rear wheels outbd to clear the bolt head. With larger wheels i would have had to space them out even farther.

I also only use the jack to lift the truck. I always have jack stands when I’m actually under there. I wouldn’t trust any hydraulic jack alone

Nice Job! Like said above and by yourself using a jack without jack stands is asking for trouble! You did your homework on the parts needed. It's not only about the jack itself failing, anyone ever have a floor jack roll onto it side because of uneven ground and lifting it to the max? Not me, but I have seen it happen on the trails and myself and fellow Jeepers have used other`s spare tires as a jack stand
