Mod - take the airbox off that says 6.2 on it??

I have never heard anyone talk about this mod:

"take the airbox off that says 6.2 on it"

Has anyone done this? What does it do? What problems can it cause?

I haven't taken it off, but I'm pretty sure its just a useless piece of plastic that covers the throttle body and won't make a difference if you remove it

It is part of the intake. If you put an aftermarket one on, it will be replaced by a tube. The box also contains baffles to make it quiet.

yeah the box is basically an intake muffler. most CAI get rid of the box and its just a tube to the throttle body as Red said. just get yourself a good CAI that gets rid of the box.

It appears to me that the Airaid CAI does NOT allow this type of installation. I have the Airaid and the tube is not long enough. Can anyone confirm?

It looks like the aFe CAI does have a longer tube and does replace the box.

it has to be a stage 2 age intake. I have a stage 1 that keeps the 6.2 box. Got it from mike @5star
