Scheduled an oil change and while doing it talked about getting mid-perch. Service rep said he would get back with me because they have never done one before and I am the only Raptor they have sold. They have one on the lot, so that makes 2 for the dealership.

When I got the oil change, the service rep said he came to this forum to learn what it entailed. Had everything printed out. Said he could not come close to the 250.00 posted here. Said it would be 380.00 due to being unsure of exactly how much labor involved being their first time.

That being said, thanks to all who have posted on this subject and a big thanks to the OP for the tutorial. I've dealt with the same dealership for 20 years and have always found them to be up front and attentive to customer needs and concerns.

I would not agree to that. He wants you to pay him extra, so he can learn how to do his job.

If he takes too long to do it because he doesn't know what he's doing, then he just loses mechanic's advantage.

There is a standard time allocated for a job - like changing an alternator might be an hour, for example (just making something up). If he can do the job in 30 minutes, you still get charged for an hour, and he pockets the labor difference - that's mechanic's advantage. If he doesn't know what he's doing, then it's his loss.

This does not apply if, say, doing a job uncovers additional work - like if the alternator scenario resulted in discovering a need for a new belt, etc. the labor time allocated would be additive then as you add other jobs to be done. But if other jobs aren't added, he just needs to learn how to do the job and not be paid extra for it.

Post some pics if you can, we are doing a group buy and will be picking up the same lights tomorrow.
These look the best for fogs, not liking that 3 lights each side from the other vendor.

These Rigids are Badass and made in the USA, unlike the ones from another vendor
