Metallic front end rattle issue.

Front Left strut? I thought you video was of the Front Right? Mine definitely sounds like it coming from the passenger side.

the axles should not spin in 2wd, regardless of what the dealer is telling you. when the truck is shut off, the iwe's will engage and lock the axles to the hub, so if you are trying to turn the wheels with the truck off, the axles will spin. the design has not changed between gen1/gen2. yes, the raptor has a unique transfer case, but the IWE operation is the same throughout all the F150 models.

also, the noise i hear in your video, sounds exactly like the noise i have in my 2012.. haven't been able to lock it down but haven't spent much time looking for it either..

mine can be duplicated by hitting the tire with a 5lb sledge

Happened to me on a long road trip. Feels like it’s under the driver side when it happens I’m guessing it’s the vacuum valve per research alone. I can’t see anything I crawled all under it. Switched it from 2h-4a and back seems to be fine. Happened at low speeds then at 75mph.

My fix was the solenoid vacuum that engages the AWD. Helio YouTube Raptor IWE google that it’ll show you fix. Easy quick one. Alternatively in meantime you can try switching to 4A and back to make it go away.

Hello all. I'm a new Raptor owner and was experiencing the front end rattle being discussed here. I live out in Boulder City, Nevada and lets just say I drive the truck very hard out in the desert. I've jumped it multiple times and need new tires after 6,000 miles. I recently noticed the rattle, and as noted by other folks, the sound just wasn't acceptable for such a nice truck. After going to multiple dealerships and other speed shops in town, it turns out the brake pad on the drivers side was loose and rattling as described above only on speed bumps, potholes, and washboard dirt roads. I had a technician remove the wheels, the brake calipers, the rotors, removed all heat shields and skid plates to check for loose rocks, and also replaced both sway bar end links (this wasn't necessary, but I didn't want to be given the runaround by the dealership). By process of elimination, it turned out the brake pads were loose. He removed them, cleaned, and adjusted the clips. Everything is good again!
