When is this test? I am very interested in hearing about how the Gen 2 does. Sure we all love to tout our Gen 1's as the baddest on the planet, and for good reason. More than a few companies have tested the Raptor against other manufacturers claiming to be as good or better - only to fail. I am curious, and a little excited, to see if the new Gen 2 will be a serious competitor. I really do love my Gen 1, and all that comes with it - V8 performance (and sound, I'm not afraid to say it), great ride, ability to be modded easily, etc. If the Gen 2 can live up to these attributes, I would be stupid not to consider one in the future.

Sure, it was fun for just a little while to kid about the Gen 2 and the Ecoboost, but then the serious Fanboys (you know who you are) showed up and it got kinda personal. Who comes into our world and tells us our trucks are going to be worthless and the new truck will embarrass us. SCREW them guys.

But you are correct, times - they are a changing. And the serious Raptor guys - they understand this and accept that. I think that this kind of test is not to show that the new Raptor is better but that it is at least as good. If it shows that it is at least as good, then I and everyone else will be more apt to accept it as an equal. I could care less who wins, and if it is a tie, then that will finally settle a lot of questions in Gen 1 owner's minds about it's abilities.

Thanks for bringing this up, and please let us know when this test is going to happen. I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in seeing the results.....

The thin skinned defensiveness of Gen I guys, if I'm totally honest. I see how scared many of you are of this new truck and it makes me think that it's going to be bad ass.

Maybe scared is the wrong word. Concerned may be more appropriate a word to use.

Believe me I like the Gen I trucks but some of you guys are bat shit crazy defensive about a new truck that will contend with and/or replace it in Ford's lineup, depending on how you look at it.

Not even concerned man, I would have sold her a long time ago if I was, not gone all in on long travel.

and of course Gen 2 replaces Gen 1 in Fords lineup, 2014 was Gen 1s last run in production...

Not agreeing with each other is a HUGE part of this forum. We all have our own opinions, and that is what makes it such a cool place to be. The reason you have met such hard feelings, is that you are unable to say "yeah, I never thought of that". You think that your opinions are always right, even though some have argued that they are not. Most of your opinions are based on 'facts' that aren't even proven yet.

Go away. It was nice while you were gone. Hopefully the powers that be will recognize this, and give you your wings to pursue the other forums that allow you to have your opinions based on fantasy.

From the last few days with the 2.7 it has been pretty impressive . All this Eco hate, lol Ford is jumping on board to meet the carbon foot print that the epa is setting . From what has been said down the pipe line , there will be no V8 model . We all know how shit changes . But, we live with the fact of a smaller motor less weight and more travel from a factory built truck . That has performed 25% faster thru the same time trial sections as the Gen 1 . It will be a side by side fight , GEN 1 VS GEN 2 . And id love to be there , Just so i can see it with my own eyes and make sure the test were accurate .
