Just realized what a low payload rating the Raptor has. By the time I load up the family (5 of us), I have about 400 lbs left for stuff.

Our Sequoia is rated at over 200lbs higher. This is a pickup...designed to haul cargo. Actually, I guess this pickup is designed more for hauling ass in the desert.

Not making any judgements. Just an observation. Thoughts?

Good point. If you have to increase the pay load on a Raptor for hauling or whatever, I wonder if air bags would be the way you would want to go. When not in use, or deflated, you’d think it would not interfere with the factory suspension set up. Does that make since?:idk:

Yeah... there are two major manufacturers of Air Bags... one says that they are not for use offroad... the other does not have their F150 instructions online, so you cannot tell if they can be used offroad.

My current truck is rated to hold more than a Raptor...but I wouldn't go jumping it in the desert.

I think the biggest drawback, and what the manufacturers may be talking about, is puncture. At the last company I worked, an Emergency Response Company, we had F-350 4X4's. Some of the gooseneck trailers, when loaded with gear, got pretty heavy. We used air bag simply because we could change load capabilities when we wanted. Then if we had to go across the country empty we wouldn’t get beat up because we had springs stacked in the rear. We spent alot time driving in the woods and I can’t ever remember having any problems with the trucks that were equipped with bags.
