I spoke to a dealer in CO who has been buying up other dealer's allocations at above MSRP to mark up to $20k over. They had probably 20 or so Raptors across their two dealerships. Capitalism at work? Sure. Price gouging? Feels that way to me, even if others here disagree.

Gouging usually refers to items that are necessary eg in charging $20 for a bottle of water after a hurricane

Dealers are simply playing in a free market

I understand the legal definition of price gouging and no one is suggesting what they're doing is illegal. However, the original poster isn't the only one who FEELS like dealers are gouging, especially considering the wide variation in mark ups ($5k - $20k here in Phoenix) and some of the crap coming out of dealers. One dealer even told me that Ford asked them to mark up $10k so they didn't end up on eBay.

Oddly enough, I'm surprised to see so many people defending car dealers. That's a new one. :)

On a lighter note, congrats to all of you with your new Raptors regardless of what you paid!

If you saw my arbitration and legal history, you'd know I"m the last person to defend a car dealer

But I do agree in a free market

Everyone here complaining about about a markup or my dealer isn't showing me any loyalty after 20 years should post back when they either (1) sell their house at appraised value when they have 10 buyers willing to pay 10% more or (2) accept $5K less on their trade-in with their 20 year dealership, you know, because of their relationship

I'll go get my popcorn

People don't like it because this is one of the few times where the dealer has leverage

Most of the time car buyers are wearing steel toed boots, it just happens this time buyers are the ones getting kicked in the shins

People aren't defending car dealers.....their defending the free market that we live in....Since when should someone be forced top sell something at a certain price that's not essential to everyday living....it confuses me....the easiest way to get rid of mark ups is not pay them....this is all basic economics

Plenty of dealers selling at MSRP. Just look around. Houston has a few dealers offering MSRP.

I just made a deal for a new Shadow Black SCREW and paid $4k over, plus I need to figure out how to get it to Alaska. Part of the reason I did this was out of sheer frustration with the local dealerships asking $15k over and not even bothering to respond to me when I made an inquiry about purchasing a vehicle at MSRP. A big part of it was that I ended up buying this vehicle from the only dealership in either Alaska or Oregon who bothered to call me back. The biggest reason though, was that I found a vehicle that EXACTLY matched how I would've ordered this truck on my own if I could and I can get it right away.

Shadow Black SCREW
802A
Moonroof
Carbon Fiber Package
Beadlocks
Heated Steering Wheel
Technology Package
Second-Row Heated Seats

Anyway, I'm happy to get exactly what I wanted and get it right away. I haven't even seen another 2017 on the road here in Anchorage, Alaska. If anyone up here asks me how much I paid, I'm going to say MSRP or maybe $1k under MSRP from the local dealership. I'm going to do this to either **** off the people who paid $15k over and make them complain or get other people to call the dealership and try to get the same deal. :)

That's the plan. I'm gonna start calling around this afternoon for quotes. If it wasn't -30° in the Yukon Territory, Canada, then I would drive it up. That would make for a fun road trip.

On 01/31/17 I purchased a Shadow Black 802A with tailgate step, heated seats/steering wheel, Tech pkg and Carbon Fiber package for MSRP in Houston.
They sold 4 Raptors that day but the others sold at a minimum of $5000.00 over MSRP.
It took weeks of stressful looking but it finally happened for me and I only had to drive from Austin to pick it up.

Being diligent and focused, you should find one.

Hey everyone, just looking for some input. So I just called my local ford dealership and set up an appointment for me to order my new Raptor. And while I was on the phone with him he was great; was very helpful. He told me that his dealership had an allocation of two of the trucks and because it was only me and one other guy in my area looking to buy them. After we set up a date and I told him what I was pretty sure I wanted on it I asked him if they would be asking at MSRP and if there was going to be a markup at all and he told me there wasn't because not that many people were interested in the truck in my area. Anyway I got off the phone very excited I was going to be getting the Raptor at a good price. Much to my surprise he called back a few minutes later and the whole story had changed! He said he had just talked to his general manager and all of the sudden there was only an allocation of one truck. And instead of the $2k original deposit i was going to put down (btw that I could then put towards the trucks price when I order it) there was now a $5k markup and I would quote "if I wanted one have to put down a considerable deposit; like the whole $5k to get an order" anyway guys I'm sorry I just feel like I'm getting ****** around. My questions are:
1. Anybody else who ordered did you pay a markup?
2. If so how much?
3. Do you know of any Dealerships in the Northeast Reigon (VT, NY, NH, ME, MA, RH, DE, etc.) that are selling at MSRP.
P.s. I'm willing to travel up to 250 miles from my town. (Barre, VT. 05641)
Anyone know what they are going for now? Raptors are still being advertised with at least $20k markup in my are So CA. This is my first time attempting to get Raptor so do you guys think they will ever sell at MSRP with no dealer markup?
There is some inventory around me but I have yet to a single 2017 Raptor on the road
