Are these markups just for vehicles that are actually on the lot? Or do they add the markup to build orders too?

Usually just ones on the lot. I'd be surprised if you found one without it. Usually there's other items on there too. Our local jeep dealership likes to add "detail" and "custom pin striping" which is hideous.

These market adjustments aka "pure dealer profit" are crazy. Cavalier ford does this where I live. They had a $20000 markup on a 13 GT500! I laugh every time I go by there. Can't believe people pay that. Talked to them about ordering one and they would only give me $500 off sticker. Talked to a guy about 30 miles down the road(Wynn ford) and he ordered me one for $3500 off sticker.

I remember seeing that. Lol. Cavalier is where I bought my truck from.

Ken Grody in Carlsbad was the first place that I stopped and looked at the Raptors. I was on vacation, and was staying at a nearby campground when my Super Duty's AC went out. Driving to Carlsbad from the Phoenix area without AC is not exactly a picnic, so I took my truck there. I looked at the trucks, a salesman came out to see if he could help me, and I told him I have a FIN code, (For Fleets) and that I don't pay pac or additional dealer markup. He walked away without a word. Too bad really. I would have bought one, with cash, right then and there.

Cash is the worst thing you can do at the Dealer... DO NOT tell them till after you have negotiated the price of the truck and trade if any. Rookie mistake...

For sure, they would MUCH rather you pay them the price PLUS interest. You're much better off not really answering any questions about how you're going to pay for it until it comes time to actually pay for it.

After Ford lost track of my order in the PCM recall debacle that happened in late '10, I found Ken Grody had an exact copy of my current truck on the lot. IIRC, it was the first crewcab listing to show up on autotrader.com in Southern California.

I left that dealer with salesmen literally laughing at the idea that I'd ever find one at MSRP, let alone below it. As tempting as it would have been to drive mine onto the lot and show the people that laughed at me my contract...they wouldn't have cared. They already knew that was going to happen the moment I walked out the door. They know what they're doing, they know they'll be plenty of people just like me that do the same thing. But some people won't. What amazes me is that it appears to still be happening nearly three years later.

I don't understand how anyone who makes enough money to afford a Raptor doesn't bother to ask someone other than a dealer how much they should cost.

My universal guide for finding out how much things cost:

Type "how much did you pay for a _________" into your favorite search engine.

Pro tip: look for results with "forum" in the name.
