I would think that due to insurance and other potential issues, those present might not want to say something that could effect any positive outcome for the owner on a public forum....

My opinion exactly.......shut up till settled!

If you have a fuel fire, no portable extinguisher is going to put it out. Fuel line is under pressure even if you kill the ignition you still have what 4 bar pressure in the line.

Most vehicle fires are not salvageable. You need gallons of foam or water to put it out.

Just for an account of engine fires & fire extinguishers:

I had a Buick LeSabre catch fire in my driveway, at the manifold a few years ago. I turned the key off, -walked- in my house & got 2 10# fire extinguishers, and walked back out. Opened the hood, and the fire was completely out after about 2-3 seconds of fire extinguisher powder hitting it. The insurance company totaled the car, but it didn't look very damaged really. You couldn't tell from the outside anything at all was wrong.

I am -NOT- saying this to suggest anything whatsoever about this particular tragic event. I am only posting it to say that yes, even a small fire extinguisher can be of great benefit in a fuel line fire. It's awful that it wasn't enough this time, and this will make me carry a much larger extinguisher in my bed than I had planned to buy.

I don't even know what to say about this. It was like losing a loved one. We all watched it grow. And having tried SOOOO HARD to save her, there was nothing we could do. We had to watch her go. We thank God that nobody got hurt and returned safely.

Thank you Chris for providing us with such an awesome icon of a truck! I'm truly sorry this had to happen.

Hey don't bring icon in to this mess!

Hey Blue SVT, I just read your post on FB claiming the fire started in the rear of the truck. I just want everyone to know that the engine started in the engine compartment. I was there. I had my face in the flames coming out of the wheel well and onto the skid plate. I don't remember seeing Matt there.

The engine started in the engine compartment? Mind = blown
