LP9 wiring

Hey guys! I have 4 LP9 pro’s i’m wiring up. I have two of BD harness’s since I know each pair of lights needs its own relay due to the amperage they draw. I want to wire all 4 lights to a single hi/Lo switch. Will I run into issues tapping both harness’s onto a single hi/Lo switch? I made a quick (probably crappy schematic). Is there any issue with the lights pulling too much for the switch, which I believe is rated for 25 amps? I believe it’s pre relay so I don’t think it would cause issues but I could be wrong so figured I’d double check first! Thanks for any help!

I wired mine straight to a switch pro. If wiring to the uplifter, use that wire to power the relay switch. Not the light.

Yeah I’m sorry my diagram probably made it more confusing. I wanted to pretty much just splice a second set of wires coming from the high/low switch going to the second pair of lights.

his scenario is complicated by 2 pairs of LP9’s and he wants to have selectable hi/low on the circuit.

so he’s sending +12 to pin 30
86 to earth/ground
85 should be the up fitter power
87a should be the closed circuit
87 should get power when energized.

I think he wants to send power, when on to a separate switch for low / high beam. That’s how I read it. And, he wants 4x LP9’s getting turned on via that switch.

So that switch would need to have enough rating for 4x LP9’s at full draw and then some. Remember, the LP series have 2x lighting circuits, forward facing and the side shooter. You need to account for both for each light, multiply by 4 and allow some overhead room.

Yeah I want the master control to be the upfitter but I want all 4 lights to use a si gel hi/lo adjustment switch as well, but from what you’re saying I may have to run 2 hi/lo switches because the 4 may be too much draw on a single switch

so... ~10.520 / LP9 and you want 4.

4 is ~42 amps draw @ 12v-ish.

Wattage (W)

so when we divide the advertised wattage by 10.520, we get 11.8 so dividing the wattage by an even 12 gets us to 10.35 amps.

So we should be in the ballpark at the 42 amps for 4 lights. That’s a pretty tall order for a single switch. Even if I’m incorrect and it’s only a total of 9 amps per light it’s still a total 36 amps

that’s 6 or 8 gauge wire(? I think 8ga. multi strand will handle 40 amps ) as opposed to going with 2 switches and you can get away with 12 gauge multi-strand.
