Has anyone replaced their lower ball joints? I'm looking at doing mine and wondered if it's worth it to have a shop do it or tackle it myself. I have the tools and shop space and the LCA's are off the truck I'm just nervous about damaging the LCA while doing any of the pressing. Also did anyone use any loctite or similar when pressing the new ones in? Thanks in advance

I've been thinking about doing this too. Check out the YouTube vids. Doesn't look too hard if you've got the tools. And the moog lbj have zerk fittings so you can grease them

What dealer? I find this hard to believe as my local dealer and another shop quoted me over $1000 installed.

This is with the LCA already off the truck, labor is minimized. I wouldn't pay someone $1000 to do it... go spend $800 on tools and a nice little toolbox, use the remainder for the parts required, a couple cases of beer and some flowers for your lady so she will leave you alone for a day and figure it out. You can pull an LCA, off of one of these trucks in under an hour per side once you have it figured out, faster once your good at it.

Pressing out the joints is no big deal, I cant remember if these ones have circlips or not just check and make sure you remove them if so, the easiest way to know is check the replacement for a groove. A lot of times you can get a local machine shop to press them out and new ones in for very little money, make sure and torque everything to spec when your done, the only bear in the cookie jar is the 405 ft-lb lower shock bolt.

Ooooh I see that makes sense now LoL! Appreciate the tips, cheers brother. Just waiting for this heatwave that just hit SoCal to leave to get to it.
