Similar problem: Low oil pressure light came on twice then the check engine light came on and stayed on. Engine eats oil with no leaks. Dealer said there are camshaft sensor failure codes. Is this heading to engine replacement?

Yes - that would be the case. Sorry!
There are a few of this exact scenario popping up now... Maybe it will force Ford to address a fix for the design.

This is exceedingly rare, which you can determine by searching the posts here.

good luck with the fix, I hope you’re back on the road soon.

Good luck - hopefully this is not similar to the 2.7 ecoboost oil consumption problem.

We have a 2016 F-150 with the 2.7L and about 30k miles. It uses absolutely zero oil and has been an excellent engine. Maybe we got a good one.

Unfortunately the same thing has just happened to me (for the 2nd time). Both times came immediately after flooring it. I hoped it was just a fluke after the 1st one, but now found this thread after #2. I've got about 3500 miles on my 2019 and will take it to the dealer as soon as I get back from vacation.
I am still running the original oil from the dealer/factory - I'll need to see if that is low.

I had the same issue a few weeks ago on my 2017 with 29k miles. When I got on it, I lost power and the check engine light came on (after the low pressure light had been on). I took it in. They said it was a bad sensor. It was replaced and I've had no issues since (knock on wood). I've stepped on it pretty hard too to get a good test of it.

This just happened to me. Scared the poop out of me as I thought I had blown it up somehow. Kept looking for an oil trail, smell or smoke and nothing. I limped back home only a few miles away turned it off and started it back up and all was good. After finding this thread and another I checked the oil and sure enough 2 quarts low. I had also been idling for a while outside the grocery store with our baby asleep in the back seat. While I was idling I got a notification that it would shut down with a countdown timer and I hit ok to dismiss. Mine is a 19 with right under 3k miles. Must not have had it full from the factory? After reading this maybe the idling had something to do with it?

Smurf, sorry this took a few days. I got my invoice out. They put the following:
Oil pressure check light on pulled code found P0424 oil pressure open and code P0165 stuck pressure sensor.
Installed GN1Z 9D290
Had to remove top air intake and booster, bracket and turbo lines to get to and install new sensor.

They also did a filter and oil change. I haven't had any issues since (knock on wood). We will see if it lasts.

I have a 2019 and I’m pretty sure I checked the oil when I first got it and at 2k I checked it and it was 2 quarts low. No engine check lights. I filled it back up and will monitor and go from there.

my 19 w 5k miles just started having the "low oil pressure" issue. if i accelerate fast, after 4 or 5 gears the engine falls on its face/shuts down, then the "low oil Pressure" warning light populates. after turning ignition off and restarting the truck its fine. just checked the oil level and its low..
