Hi All,

I'm having an issue with the Navigation signal. The stock Sync shows a "GPS" icon with a red circle/cross through it on the screen. I have the Autotec screen in the truck and that standalone nav works (but with CarPlay it doesn't because that system uses the stock navigation in the truck, not the phone).

I switched over to the Autotech antenna on the stock Sync unit to test that, and the Sync nav still doesn't work. I suspect it's the board or plug on the APIM that is bad.

Anyone else had this issue? I've heard of APIM issues (black screen, can’t update, etc) but I haven't found anything specifically regarding nav signal issues.

Thought I'd ask here before I spend $250 on a replacement APIM unit.

TIA

Can you explain a little further on that? Thanks!
i know that unit installation requires lots of
Plugging in harness to a main board. Sometimes you can bend a pin or the harness is not seated properly. Can cause malfunctions.

Oh I see what you mean. Yeah that's true, there is a lot going on. The system worked flawlessly for 6 months.

I noticed while using CarPlay a few weeks ago that the nav was "freezing". Both on the Google Maps and Waze apps. It would keep repositioning every 5-8 minutes or so and then freeze again. That's when I searched it online and found out the CarPlay doesn't use the phone GPS, it uses the vehicle signal. It snaps to a new position when that signal isn't there and positions via tower triangulation. Kinda dumb it doesn't use the phone GPS if ya ask me....

I'll add that I did a factory reset on the SYNC to see if that would help. Nada. That's when so tried a different GPS antenna.
