depth is the issue here. getting a good sub that fits under the seat is the key. we custom build boxes to accomdate that, however for those that dont want to spend as much have been looking for other options.

the solo x is too big of a speaker, and the amount of airspace required for it, would mean taking up most of the underseat space not to mention the speaker doesnt sound very good. its loud as hell, but no tonal qualities

Good, honest info. To tell you the truth I wasn't all that disappointed in the stock system although I listen to a lot of hard rock/metal and get distortion when I'm cranking up the Five Finger Death Punch. Is that reaching the limits of the speakers or the amp?

the oem system is very limited. ford put many restrictions in place when sony was contracted for the system. anything above half volume and you start getting frequency cuts.

the kicker sub is definitely louder than the oem. i was rather surprised at the output. but thats about it. the sound quality wasnt there. it misses a lot of frequencies and listening to music i know, i expect to have it reproduce the sound, but it did not. for a general upgrade to get more output, it sure does put out some sound. for someone wanting better quality, it wont do much, if any.

So I got it in and installed in my Scab. It does indeed mount behind the drivers seat. It includes everything you need to install as well as move the jack mounting hardware to the passenger side.

It took about an hour to install including removal of the old sub. I haven't remounted the jack yet. Not sure if I'm going to bother. I haven't really had a chance to listen to it because my sunroof broke and is now stuck in the up position leaving the truck stuck in the garage until I figure out wtf to do. ugh.
