Looking for Amp suggestions to go with these components

I see so many options floating around here but I am not sure what amp(s) will be a good choice. Here is what I have purchased so far.

Focal PS 165FX – Adaptor Metra 825607

JL Audio 10tw3-d4

NavTV ZEN-A2B

I would like to stay under $1000 for the amps. I see a lot of multiple amp setups, but would a Audison AP F8.9 be a good choice to drive everything and get a DSP built in?

That would work fine, but for your setup all you really need is a 5ch amp. I wouldn't mess with a DSP unless you know what you're doing or have someone that can set it up properly.

the one issue that arises is the amount of power available with a dsp amp. every dsp amp on the market usually tops out at 100 watts per channel, which is enough for speakers, but not necessarily a subwoofer. it is always recommended to over drive the speakers. its whats called dynamic headroom. you dont run the risk of blowing speakers unless the power is exceptionally high and the crossover points are incorrect. to put into perspective, i have an 800 watt 4 channel amplifier just to power my front components. if you are planning to go to the next level of audio, i highly recommend using more power. feel free to text me (831) 254-7562) and we can go over options. or call the shop monday. I had a JL 900/5 in my 2013 Platinum with JL C5’s components up front and Polk in the back doors and JL stealth box under the back seat with 13”.

I'm about to start a build too. A local dealer talked me into an Audison 4.9. The DSP looks easy enough to setup with presets for components with crossovers and built in RCA out for an additional Sub Amplifier. Went with a separate RF R1200-1D prime amp for my dual JL Audio 10tw3 enclosure. The RF R1200-1D might be a low cost option. If you want an external sub level knob and decide to go with 2 amps.

Hopefully Audison releases a B&O integration harness like they did with the Sony so I can sell my NavTV ZEN-A2B unit that I just purchased later.

The HD900/5 is a little more than 1k but you might be able to find a deal. You really need the TWK88 or something like it as a DSP in order to tune the system. Tuning is about more than sound...for the most part I use all reference settings as the speakers are amazing but I do use the timing settings to dial in the front/rear/left right timings and I get 6 presets for different sounds. The custom sub box is fiberglass and sits behind the rear seat so as to preserve the entire rear floor for cargo.

Wow that does look very close. Did you make you own sub enclosure? I do not think I ever saw any pics of it in the forum when searching. I saw where someone created there own fiberglass enclosure on the F150 forums. I will be looking into the amp/dsp as well. Thanks

I had a guy at car toys build it. They charged me 5-600.00. The pic is hard to tell but it's one continuous box

I've been using the Audison 8.9 for a couple months now and love it. I'm 4 channels for the front speakers bridged, 2 channels for the rear (not doing much) and 2 channels for a single ported 12" subwoofer. This is great for me since I don't care that much for bass, but would definitely agree that if you want more bass, a separate amp to power subs would be the way to go, if you're using audison. Even if I opted to put the sub behind the seat, I would have needed a separate amp since I wouldn't be able to port it and get the most out of a single sub.

Also worth noting that I've got a 2017 with the Sony system, so didn't need a NAVtv. If I had the B&O, I don't know that I would have gone with Audison.

get a 5 channel amp, make sure it is stable to 2 ohm load on the 5th sub channel, and make sure your subs are wired to 2 ohms. you will have plenty of power.
