Though I have upgraded my suspension as far as I plan to go, I am very interested in "all the Raptor can be."

For that matter, where is the talk of getting 800 to 1000rwhp out of the 6.2L?

When are we going to start addressing the issue that we need a designated Ford Raptor racing class, similiar to jeep speed? I believe all this bickering is leading to this anyways, I just think I am one of the first to say it. The first races would need to be on private land (texana ranch?) and we could seperate it into 2 or 3 classes: stock, modified and modified plus (?), whatever, but the idea is there somewhere.

A Raptor is not a luxury prerunner, or a trophy truck, but I think we can all agree its very good at what it does. I'm down, start working out the deets TreyPal!!

Well that's a lot of money for a couple inches. I could sped 5k and give myself a couple inches to make my wife happy. With the cost for a built raptor that high I hope you guys through in a complimentary tube of KY. Ha

Just thinking back, everyone I know on this forum with LT on their suspension has trouble keeping the truck together. Rick destroys his rear solid axle, the Brenthal f150 this weekend bent his rear end and busted his rear locker (among other things). I don't know much about the other trucks running LT (especially up front), but I wonder what the damage ratio is for LT versus stock versus upgraded suspension, but no LT? Just curious and not bashing at all. Something I've been thinking about after speaking to some knowledgeable folks.

You make an interesting point, and I think it's one of those things where you've upgraded one thing (suspension) and it brings to light other weak points in the truck that you must address, so you can find the next weak point and so on.

Me personally, I've decided that I'm going to just be happy with the performance that my stock suspension and bump kit are capable of. I'd love to have a LT kit, but I can't justify $10k + on suspension mods that I'm only going to use a few times a year.

cant really get away with such a drastic change, without something else going wrong.

Indeed. There are all-out LT hardcores, and then there's the rest of us mere mortals. If I lived in the desert and could just head out anytime, I might be more tempted to pull the LT trigger (along with other LT UHV toys). For me, upgrading to the beefy 3.0's etc permits a very solid performance on local forays and the several runs I can squeeze into a year, while retaining dependability and smooth daily driving characteristics.

So here is my official opinion. I was going to start another thread on the lines of this myself.

You don't need it. I was outran this Baja trip by a mid perch only raptor. Bone stock. The guy just knew how to drive better than me. The capabilities of these trucks far exceeds most of our driving experience. This being said by a guy who is fixing to spend a weekend in a Trophy Truck (right seat mind you).

My suggestion. Spend the 4-5K on a good driving school. That's what I plan on doing. I know I will get more for my money.

Also, a huge factor in speeding up the truck is the forces it causes on the truck. Bent rear axles, severely bent frames (not framageddon, major damage unrelated to bumpstops). A LT truck really needs a cage front to back to make sure it doesn't fall apart. Add trussed rear end (at a min.). Fiberglass bedsides (no bed), otherwise the bed is going to rip apart.

I could keep going, but you get the idea.

Isn't the white Brenthel raptor from their marketing vids a texas truck? If I remember correctly, the guy beats hard on his truck and it isn't modded anything past the kit upfront. Also, I recall he raves about the trucks performance. Maybe he's exaggerating or isn't telling the full story with damage reports but something tells me he's having a blast in that truck and it's holding up just fine.

It's not like we're talking center-mount tt suspension here. The 16"- 19" kits aren't going to blast so hard through the rough that the truck starts falling apart. These mid-travel kits available to us are nothing new and guys are running them on all kinds of other trucks. At least around my neck of the woods.

Not knocking your viewpoint Trey because I hold your opinions very highly regarded. I guess time will tell as those who choose to go that route will be the guinea pigs so to speak. If my truck starts breaking, I'll be the first to tell...

Our local deserts are littered with whoops that bring our lightly modified raptors to a snail pace. Barstow is usually the go to spot for me and my friends and if you've seen that terrain, than you'll be able to relate to the snail pace comment. It would be nice just to go that much faster through that stuff.

It would be interesting to hear from Connor about how much time and money he spends prepping his truck before every Raptor expedition trip..

Would the average Raptor owner do that? I am guessing probably not.. Then again this is an extreme example.
