I would like to paint my stock wheel rims with line-x. Buying aftermarket black wheel rims is just a waste of money. What I will do with the stock ones?!!! For this reason I would like to paint line-x them. Plus, I had noticeable scratches on one of my wheel rims from a car accident. I can consider black powder coat paint, but black powder coat is prone to scratches with offroading, what do you think? I have been searching here and there, I have not seen any good info regarding this topic. All I have seen is just theories about balance distribution with line-x painted wheel rims.

Have any one done it before? Any photos? Or any thread about this topic in this forum or other forums? I am in a need for any information before I do it. I do not want to regret line-x painting the wheel rims. Thanks!

I haven't seen anyone here line x the wheels. It wouldn't scratch as easy as paint or powder coat but if you hit something harder I'd assume it'd still get messed up.

it'll get messed up if you hit it hard enough whether its painted, plated, powdered, or coated, so that's a null point.

I think the biggest concern with line-xing the rims is throwing the balance off. Doesn't take much to throw them out. I'm sure some have had it done, but who knows if they do a lot of road miles. Best check with your line-x shop, because if they're not comfortable doing it, it won't matter if someone else had it done if your local shop doesn't think they can do it right.

IMO the textured look of line-x wouldn't look right on the wheels. Wheels should be smooth not textured IMO. Stock rims sell pretty easily to recoop most of the costs of going aftermarket anyway.

Plastic dipped mine over a month ago and still looking good.
Best part about it like people have said is you can peel it back off and re-do it if it gets messed up
or if you don't like it just peel it.
Did 1 light coat and 4 thick coats and I believe it took 3 cans around 5-6 bucks each.
I taped off the first wheel but decided to not tape off the others and the over spray just cam right off the rubber with ease.
Once you start driving the tire flexes and loosens the dip.

This really looks great.

Anyone have done line-x stock wheel rims, please write your feedback. I am still looking for opinions in this subject.

Work
x2 on the Plasti Dip.

It actually works and when you get tired of it or damage it - just peel it off and do it again.

Holds up really well too. I used to have it on my old Lightning and worked well.
