I was wondering which is a better and brighter light force light, the Halogen or the HID light? and what would be more beneficial for the non-off road racer, 2,3 or 4 lights? and what is the dif. between the types of lights that light force has?

If you defne better as brighter, I don't think there's any argument that HIDs are the clear winner. They throw far more light using a lot less power.

If you're asking about quality of the housing and mount and whatnot, the halogen and HIDs use the exact same bits, with the HIDs having a few more parts (ballast, ignitor).

As for what's better for non off road use... Neither. These are not driving lights. Both will blind oncoming traffic on the road. They're not supposed to be used to light up the highway (illegal to use on road in many states too). If it's drivin lights you're after, I don't thing LightForce has anything for ya :(

The difference in the 140 170 and 240 lights, beyond halogen and HID, really boils down to reflector size and shape. The larger the reflector the larger the parabola possible and therefore the further the light can be thrown. Beyond that though, they all use the same high impact resistant materials and they all can use interchangable lenses.

Oh no, I am looking for lights that i can use for off road. I think i was unclear, for the occasional off roader would 2,3 or 4 lights be better. I love the way that 4 lights look and i really like the ford racing light bar as well. I guess I am leaning more towards the 170's or the 140's. In your opinion only, which onwe of those is better. :) Also how are thos two 170's working for you? do they pushout enough light for you or do you wish you had two more to go along with them?

Gotcha DJ.

I think its not really a matter of whats better in this case. More light is almost always going to be a good thing off road. Its really a matter of "what's enough", not a matter of "what's better". In my particular case, I think 2 of the 170's is "enough". BUT... if YOU like the look of 4 on the Ford bar, four it is!

The 170s HIDs throw an INCREDIBLE amount of light. In retrospect, I'm really glad I listened to these guys and went HID. I'm also glad the 140s didn't work out; I have the strong suspicion that 2 140s would have left me wanting more. But 2 170s... wow! I plan to run them both with the new "combo" filter. This, according to LightForce, gets the job normally done by 4 lights, done with two. Typically folks will run two spot and two flood (for distance and for close). LightForce's combo filter makes one light both a spot and a flood. So one light does the job of two. Two does the job of four. Follow?

Hope that helps!

Gotchya Big J, sounds like a plan. thanks for the link man. one last thing, why do they offer the wiring harness? does it not come with the wires to connect to the AUX switches already in the Raptor? and would it be smart to purchase that also?

sorry so many questions BigJ....
