Thank you for your confidence and support.

Upon browsing the other thread, I don't seem to see any conclusive evidence that an aluminum caliper kit has ever installed under stock 17" - only some pics.

Although it could be possible that F150 stock wheels are made more spacious than 'regular' OE 17".

I found two styles of factory F150 17" wheels from eBay.

Your input as to which one (top or bottom) would be helpful for us to identify the right 17" wheels and confirm the size of a brake kit can fit.

Thank you.
I say let's worry less about 17" OEM wheels, and more with just fitting inside a 17" barrel of the wheel. Since wheel spokes are so varied, no one expects an aftermarket brake kit to fit every wheel on the planet... but see this thread, specifically post 97 and 103 - he is running aftermarket 17's with the R1 kit front and rear.

Again I agree w/ Nick... I don't care if every 17" wheel works, I just want the biggest (and best) brakes that will fit under a 17" wheel. I would have already bought the Baer kit but I've had bad experiences with their stuff in the past and I'd prefer not to go that route if I don't have to.

Sound like the way to go - I reviewed the thread again and found no brake kit claimed can fit under OE 17", so the only option would be one of these aftermarket wheels.

• Weld Rekon, 17″
• BTR G2 17″
• Method NV 17″
• Method Mesh 17″

Anyone forum vender here represent them?, or what is your favorable brand/model so we can contact them for wheel dimensions.

A typical 17" wheel profile.

I think you might be surprised with what just a set of good aggressive pads on the stock brakes may be capable of.

I'm eventually going to call Pegusus and ask them what they can put together. We recently used them for brake pads on our road race car. They used a Raybestos (I never even knew that Raybestos made racing brake pads) material on the baking plates for our calipers and they worked fantastic

AP needs to get in the game. I might call my buddy up and see what they can do.

You certainly can make the stock brakes work better with different pads, fluid and lines. The one thing you will never change is the feel of a floating caliper vs a fixed caliper... The feel is what I am after more than anything and it is plenty easy to lock the stock brakes up but they feel spongy all the time and there is zero modulation.

Without changing the master cylinder you will have trouble eliminating the spongy pedal feel.

A more aggressive pad that's got more initial bite will help make the brakes feel much more responsive. It will still have that spongy feel but won't be as bad.

Interesting remark on changing the master cylinder, can you elaborate why it's necessary, and shall the MC be larger or smaller, and how it's going to correct the spongy feel.

I went ahead and ordered the Baer 14" setup front and rear. I will be running them with Weld Rekon B57B wheels and 37" Nittos (fairly heavy setup). I will report back when everything is installed (it's going to be a while because the wheels are a custom order).

Quick update. Just waiting on hats for the front brakes.

But truck is currently in the shop getting the Whipple Gen 3 upgrade installed so won't be able to mess around with these for a bit.

Stay tuned.
