I would like to get a light bar either behind the grill or on stock bumper. These are the ones I’m looking at. I want to make sure that it works well (not just looks good). Anyone know enough about lights to rank them. I know the Baja Designs is the best, but it’s much more expensive so I’m wondering if I’d be satisfied with one of the other options.

I’m betting if you’re not blasting through the desert at well beyond the speed limit between sunset and sunrise, any will probably do quite well for off-roading. I have cheap amazon lights behind the grille which will someday get replaced with better units. I looked at the Rough Country bar before and was strongly considering it. Of course, the BD light is probably going to throw more light and throw it farther. I have 6 BD lights and they’re quite impressive.

I’ll say this; pulling and replacing the grille is a long project in your driveway or garage. it’s not overly challenging or difficult, but it takes time and can be a bit frustrating. With a kit, much less so, but since I improvised, my project took longer. So my thought on this is if you go with a behind the grille light, go big and do it once.

We've sold a ton of the Baja Designs S8 30" behind the grille kits. Like Smurfslayer said, it is a bit of a project to pull your grille off, but it's not too bad.

While there are less expensive options, you won't do better than Baja Designs quality!

Take advantage of our Black Friday sales. $150 mail in rebate on the S8 and we're throwing in one of our new center console storage trays too.

I'd recommend the Baja Designs 30" S8 Bar. It's just top quality and it throws off a great amount of light.
We have a killer Black Friday sale over on our website. On top of the $150 Baja Designs cash back we're also giving 10% back towards a future purchase when you buy Baja Designs from us so you get that as well. i have been looking into adding different lights myself. i currently have the Rough Country Fog kit for my Raptor. complete crap. total garbage in my opinion. I have been looking at adding A-pillar lights or a Light Bar. i have been looking at the F150LED palodin bar for a while but dont seem to get any feedback on it from fellow raptor owners. i was about to pull the trigger on the BD Squadrons sports but this time around every bodies opinions were to not wast time with the Squadron Sports... so now im back to looking at a light bar for the most usable light. I am not spending $$$$ on lights because i wont use them enough to justify the cost. i am now looking at either Black Oak or F150LEDs products.

You said your RC was crap and you want to look at F150LEDs? Those guys are just as crappy as RC. They just re-brand some cheap chinese bars, thus the price. I don't know much about BlackOak but all those light bar brands are the same style chinese junk light bars with a new logo on them.

Rigid/Baja Designs/KC all do things a bit different.

Spend the extra cash now and buy one of the quality brands, that's my opinion. Sure the sticker price sucks at first, but you'll be glad you did.

I'd say go with the Baja Designs Squadron Pros over the XL, as for a TINY bit more money you get more lumen. I run the Pros on my truck and like them.

The S8 bar has $150 in cash back rebates as I mentioned above so now's a great time to pick it up.
