I am curious why if you had a choice to buy a 21" light bar and the bar came either as twelve 10w CREE LED's OR get the bar with two rows of 12 making it twenty four 3w CREE LED's. IT seems like you would opt for the single row of 12. What am I missing?

Well, ... .... .. - don't ya know, and I know ~ you know! "Bigger is Better"

So, you ain't missin' anything.

The 10 watt Cree's is newer technology and now, they're up to 50w Cree's.
But, I haven't yet seen them on light bars, just the single light Cannon.
I went with 30" with 10w Cree.

The single row row bars with 10W LEDs (mine at least) are brighter, have a longer throw, a wider flood and draw less power than the similar sized dual row bar with 3W LEDs. From a pure lighting standpoint i would run the single row 10W bar. Some people prefer the look of the dual row bar however and they still put out a ton of light, so for some i think it is just personal preference.

From my experience, single row light bars go further and the 3w double row ones flood better. Just because a 10w led is brighter and will go further. That how baja designs gets so much distance with their light bars, large reflectors, high power leds.

Still surprised china hasn't replicated the xmitter extreme lineup of dual row 5W'ers... looked into this myself, comparing vX xmitter xtreme vs evo prime...both $999

21" dual row...... 36 LED's x 5W = 180W
20" single row.... 12 LED's x 10W = 120W

Same price for both bars, on paper dual row put out another 7,000+lm. I have a knockoff EVO (8*) bar to compare to my XE(10*), the 10W's 8* is obviously a tighter beam, but the 5W bar throws as far and in addition its close range light bleed spread was as bright as my other 30" bar with 3W 30* LEDs... IMO only reason I can see running the 10W over dual 5W is if space was limited, but were talking barely an inch difference...

I wouldn't mind a 30/40" single row VX Xtreme (5w) to line up with the grille slot; this light is only 2" tall. Most of the double row lights are about 3" tall. A Baja Designs Stealth would probably work well too... only ~1.5" tall.

I too am surprised that the Chinese haven't copied the 5W Xmitter bars.

There's dual rowx5w LED ones on Alibaba. There's a single row 50x10w LED 50" bar I found I've kind of been eyeing, but, it only comes in 30 or 60 degree patterns.

oh nice, were they generic housings or did they copy the vX or other makers housing? If you find a good vendor on there, please do share. Emailed a few sellers there when I was hunting for mine, hit some language barriers that left little confidence to send $500 to :D
