KO2 Crack after 30,000 miles

I have gotten well over 50,000 mile on set ...must be quit a difference...in load C vs E

I sold my stock load range C KO2s with 18K miles on them and they were at about half tread.

Load range C was made specifically for the Gen 2 raptor and is a bit softer and considered part of the suspension. That being said I just put a new set on my wife’s 4Runner (E range) and America’s tire told me that they now come with a 50,000 mile warranty, which is good since I’m getting about 11,000 per set.
I agree with the boys that looks like a manufacturer defect hope they take care of you, is it all the tires or just one?

Load range C tires are more pliable and do better in rock as they conform better. They also ride better as the sidewalls are more flexible. Because they are more flexible they are also less prone to cuts from rocks. The only downside is that since there are less plies they don't offer as much protection to side wall puncture. However for off road, I would prefer and will continue with the load range C KO2s.

Did you find it because of a strange clicking sound as you were driving?

We were, literally, driving down the mountain. We found it because the tire warnings came on, so I pushed her to go faster down to get to level ground. Hearing anything when you're driving over what can only be described as 'improved rock' is close to impossible.

Wow, that’s a lot of tread left for 30k miles. I have 19k on mine and they look like they have less tread on them. I do tend to drive hard though...

Had a similar rip/cut in a Yokohama Geolander that I noticed was flatted out shortly after a 120 mph highway run.

I was gassing up right next to a tire store when I saw the low tire and the rip.

Lucky for me that the tire didn’t blow at speed. Also lucky for the wife and dog.

Replace that tire, and all of the others pronto. It is not worth the risk.

Hi Cleversn,I have read all this and have experienced the similar issues.As well as the minor cracking issue,i actually ripped a lug clean out subsequently suffered a flat tyre.All this with only less than 5000ms on the tyres.
I totally agree with Raptorvet where i changed to load range E tyres and believe they are a far more durable tyre and best thing is ,there is a lot less body roll.
