Well I'm back from delivering the truck up to Hennessey Performance in Lake Forrest. Great Trip

My buddy Sam was going to come with me, but at the last minute he had to bail on the trip so my wife came with me. We did the entire Baja in 16.5 hours including the Boarder Crossing. Alex got a little nervous a couple of times, but never said a word. I would guess we did 95 most of the trip. I love this truck. It handles the roads of Baja really well.

So our first stop was Stewart's Raceworks. Craig was super cool as always and got his crew working right away pulling the front bumper and lights off the truck. While they were doing this, I had the opportunity to spend some time with Josh, who was cutting the frame back on the Fox test Raptor. They are getting the Stewart's Raceworks bumper installed too. It was really apparent why this setup is going to be so cool. That frame sticks way the hell out, and as we all know this causes the front end of our trucks to hit pretty hard sometimes. I would guess that he took just over 12" off the frame. Anyway while he was doing this we were talking about the trucks, and he brought up the rear end, and its limitations. He showed me some pictures of a system they did, and the next thing I know I am getting one of those too. It is hot, and I will try to get Josh to send me the photos to post. SO now I am replacing both the front and rear bumper setups on the truck, and not just for looks, because I love the ADD stuff. This is primarily for clearance and performance.

Next we drove up to Camburg Engineering. I must confess, I was a bit hesitant about this, but after getting there and speaking with Jerry and Scott, any hesitation I had was gone. These guys run a first rate operation. I can't wait to have them dig into the truck. They will be doing the front and rear suspension. In front, I gotta stop here and say WOW. The new Lower Arm they have built is insane. Anybody that has any doubt about why it is 1900.00 only need to go see it, and you will understand. This thing is sick. We will use the 3" kings I have, but everything else is being replaced, and we are also adding bumps. In the rear, we will be going to a sprung under setup. Not sure on how this will play out, as they need to take a closer look.

Then we drove over to Hennessey's West Coast Shop. I know this always gets a reaction, but I don't care what anyone says. John Hennessey and Don Goldman run a first class shop, and any issues that were present in the past are just not there anymore. Are they a little more expensive, Maybe. But I must defend that every single time I deal with them, I feel great, and I leave knowing my truck is in good hands. They will be pulling the Procharger and installing the Roush Supercharger.

While I was at Hennessey I got the opportunity to take a ride in the new HPE 700 Mercedes. Holy shit this thing is fast. It starts out as a bi turbo E63 AMG, but when they are done, it is one of the smoothest most luxurious fastest, and ******* insane cars I have ever had a ride in. I am pretty sure I will be ordering one of these for my wife's Christmas present.

Anyway, I am home now and I can't wait to get my truck back. What the hell, I already did this waiting ********.

I will post pictures as I get them.

Peace

That is really cool. I know most people are talking about the mods, which are very awesome, but think the trip from Cabo to TJ makes me envious. Did you take 1 all the way up or did you take more off road/dirt/sand roads? I need to plan a trip down there, but am always afraid to take my truck into Mexico. Most of that by the day insurance doesn't cover theft.

This trip was on the 1, but I have done it off-road too. Your insurance will not cover you in Mexico. You always have to stop at the border and buy Mexican insurance. It is easy, and more important it is safe. You will dig it, so go for it.

Sounds like the trip is a success so far! Nice report Chris. You better not sneak back out of CA without calling me first. I want to see the finished product! :peace:

Im jealous, cant wait to see the pics and hear more about your rig when it is done.

I have been eyeing a similar trip but from VA to stewarts shop to get the front/rear setup as well. But that is at least a year or two out (not chopping frame until its all paid off!), only thing that could screw that up is that damn 13 raptor. I need to see that color in person ASAP!

Tiz, You need to go over to Camburg and check out that Lower Arm. It is SOOOOO Nice.

Maybe you could plan to do the ride back down the Baja with me. Should be in about 6 to 8 weeks.

Chris, any word from the boys at Wavetrac? Also, did Camburg incorporate a jack point in the new LCA? The last time I spoke with them, it was still being prototyped.

Can't wait to see how this next evolution of your truck turns out. It's good to be a ****! (That's "Double Income, No Kids" for those who think I might be dissing Chris. :waytogo:)

Any chance the new and improved truck will make a second trip to SEMA this year?

Agreed, it is a simple addition. However, from what I was told, the initial CAD's did not include any plans for a jackpoint nor did the mock-up.
