Kicker Sub Upgrade How-To

Installed the subwoofer in my supercrew, but not too happy so far. Turned the bass back to -4 position, but still an extreme amount of the lowest frequencies and therefore resonance/vibration. Bass also seems to be a bit out of phase (behind). Did connect the white-blue/brown wire and white/blue wire. Don't really know what to do now

Double check your wiring, every person who has done this has stated that the difference in sound is profound, I believe the terms used are night and day. Did you tap the wires under the door sill plate or at the sub?

At the sub, did check the wiring and tried every combination. The change is profound indeed, just not what it should be

Maybe it's like the old saying "you can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear".

Now if you wired the white and white/light gray to the green for the positive side. Then the white/blue and white/gray to the brown for the negative side. This should be the correct wiring for the sub to my understanding.

check post 3. also, is it dual vc sub or single? im not too familiar with kicker products these days. so i dont know what subwoofer they are using in it.

Do you have a good enough ground ? Mine is amazing and sounds great . Im sure its something small

It's a single, it is the Ford/Kicker set with the 4 door speakers and amp as mentioned before in this post. Didn't put in the door speakers yet and will throw away the amp.
The sub sounds as if it gives only the very low frequencies with very little "determination". Therefore a lot of resonance/vibration

@The Car Stereo Company and anyone else that might be able to offer assistance....

So I got my kicker kit installed professionally a few weeks back. I know little to nothing about stereos, so I thought do it right and just bite the bullet and pay for the install. The system sounds awesome and I am VERY impressed with the improvement over the Sony sub and speakers.

Only problem is that I am getting a "grumbling", I would call it, when I first start up and shut down the truck from the sub. I would compare it to the sound of wind inside the cab on a windy day. When the music plays, I don't hear it. Not sure if it's drowned out by the music or it does seem to go away with the music.

It was suggested that it could be a bad ground, which I checked and is solid. The install guy said that he thought that the small amp that is attached to the sub was defective. How possible is that? I'm leaning towards an install issue.

I did give him the "special instructions" that would be needed to make the system work in the Sony system. He says he did all that. I looked for where he would have used the brown and green plug deal and couldn't find it anywhere installed or in the box of leftovers either.

Anyone have any ideas what this could be?
