For those that are interested I have found the hard drive. I have the replacement on order, and will shortly be upgrading it(more involved than you would think).

This may seem like a non-issue to many of those reading this however there are reasons aside from aesthetics for the modification.

1: retain ford sync and telnav navigation/gps functionality.
2: no external attached drive which means
a: no cable running or modifications to console or glove compartment.
b: no external hard drives bouncing around while off-roading (admittedly not going
to be an issue for me for a while)
c: no flash drives to jumble around
3: ability to load 90gigs (approx.) of music to factory unit without individual CDs
4: thanks to music compilers and other software it will be as close to "gapless" playback as possible.

on the same note though i will still be rerouteing the USB to allow for charging of my cell inside the armrest. along with master controls for the amplifiers and cleansweep DSP from JL Audio. No need for Deep ass bass when talking on the hello-phone and while i am in there i may extend the OBD II to reach into the armrest as well for accessibility with laptops.

**UPDATE 12AUG13** Ordered the HDD from a company that went out of buisness (aint that some ********), reordered a lager drive(250gb)from a new place hope to get them in the next couple of days. Because i had to reorder i also ordered a IDE-to-SATA converter that would allow for the use of even larger capacities and better yet solid state drives.

The radio has a second USB port on the back of it for this purpose. Just search for "USB2".

I would not screw with the Jukebox feature. I don't think *anyone* uses it. The Nav data is also stored on this hard disk. I have no idea how Windows Automotive works, but it wouldn't surprise me if the firmware/bootloader were hard configured for a specific drive.

I run a 64GB SSD in the glovebox. I thought about routing it to the center console, but then decided to just leave it in the glovebox as it was trivial to put it there. Additionally the only things I keep in the glovebox are the manual and the SSD, which means its rarely disturbed (not really important with an SSD, but might be if you want to run a magnetic disk). I'd advise against a magnetic drive though, unless you get one rated for extreme temperatures (cold and hot).

I run my SSD off the USB2 port, but you can switch them. I think you may have to slightly mod the cable end to fit the plug on the first USB port (it's keyed with a notch).

Make sure you're running the latest version of Sync or you'll get annoying delays scanning large drives at startup.
