Holy chit. I finally finished installing all my audio equipment and speakers in my gen 3. I got some really good direct fitment parts from @SoundsGoodStereo. Their amp board and speaker mounts were perfect. I went with a JL VXi 600i 6 channel amp, the zen A2b, JL c3 6.5s in all 4 doors and the component highs in the pillars. I also lined the inside structure of the door and the exterior side behind the door panel with that foam chit. I cut my own “block off” plates with 1/4” HDPE paneling and screwed them in place covering the big holes behind the door panels. I ran 12 guage wire for all 4 door speakers and 16 guage to the highs. The doors were a b I t c h but got them ran. The sound, the sound is the best I’ve ever heard. I’ve put systems in all my previous vehicles but this is the first where I kept the factory head unit in place. The zen made that really easy. The VXi amp is unbelievable. Sitting in the front seat and tuning all the channels with my MacBook was really cool. To sit stationary in the drivers seat and dial them all in was worth the extra money for that amp. The tun software was a learning curve but not too difficult to navigate. The only thing i wish I would have done different is getting the 8 channel version of the VXI and doing a 3 way set up in the front. And I very may well do that. If so I’ll have a 6channel to part with on the cheap. I’m going to try a pair of C7s in the front doors as soon as they get back in stock somewhere and would like to put 2 C7 3.5s in the dash. But as it is with the C3s it’s a billion times better than the B&O. I still have a lot left to learn about the tun software, I wish the mobile app had more features to make eq adjustments from time to time, but I think the JL drc 205 knob can be programmed to change presets. I could be wrong about that. It’s wired in but having a hard time deciding where to mount it through the dash. Not a lot of real estate to have at an easy reach.
