The difference in the pulley is only 1 psi boost, from 75mm stock to a 72mm. That is about 10-15 HP, not much in the big picture. We recommend that with the upgrades he is doing already there will be plenty enough power increase to warrant not using the pulley. If he feels like he needs a little pick me up in the future it is an easy swap. I told jlatigo that the smaller pulley would require an idler and still retains the factory length belt since the Roush is an odd ball length. A 90mm idler will take up the slack, that is what most guys do using the 72mm pulley.

The Roush is a different animal than the Whipple blower, it uses smaller diameter blower pulleys which is going to put less belt wrap around the pulley. Your more likely to see belt slip or the belt jump off unlike the Whipple. Hence the fead belt guard. There are issues tuning related with shift points that will create the belt to jump as well. We have our tuning dialed in, that won't be an issue. However since jlatigo said he likes to do offroad and aggressive style of driving I took a careful approach into his upgrades and gave him room to improve down the road if he chooses to do so.

Parts should be on they're way to you ASAP!

The Roush tuning leaves a lot to be desired, but because i didn't know any better i was perfectly happy with it. Unfortunately i got the opportunity to drive the Shelby Raptor at TRR and that opened my eyes. My suspension is somewhat like theirs but with more capability but my motor was severely lacking in power and throttle response for my new wants and needs. Based on what i have read about this and, testimonials from others using your products i am confident that these upgrades will get me where i want to be. If not i guess there is always the pulley change? lol

Thanks Jim, i'm like a kid waiting on Christmass to arrive!

Yep, we added an idler for our 72 back at the beginning of 2013. Ole gal ran a 13.4 with traction issues before hand, never made it back to the track after though before we added the 37s. But I definitely noticed a difference after the install and Stang His updated tune. Anyways no belt slips or mishaps to this day, I ran the truck at TRR and did some.. well not so TRR smart roading and never had an issue.

I agree with you MTF along with some other issues that can lead to belt slippage. Welcome to the upgraded club Joe, I'm sure you'll like the ride. I won over whipple fans and got fellow owners in LA to go the Roush route with rides in the truck, had a smile on my face since 2012 and that first kit we got to play with and upgrade.

That would have to be the acceleration of the truck and the fact that it's on point when it comes to launches going wot and shifts and the fact it's not some slouch as most Whipple folks like to assume about the guys running tvs setups. Which I'm sure is just from the whole Whipple Vs Roush talk and not actual real world experience. I took folks rides at TRR when going to town, some had never been in a Roush setup before are they were opened up to my world and surprised.

The difference in the pulley...
JimIII

Hey Jim i went to the JDM page and saw the throttle body/tuner/plug upgrade. Just a few questions if i'm not hijacking this too much.

If i already have the tuner (for my expedition) can that be re-flashed by you guys to work with my 2013 raptor, and with that, would i have to purchase everything separately and would it even be worth it. Again i live in Dubai so the logistics of it may be a pain in the arse but im sure its dooable.

Also with those upgrades is there anything necessary that needs to be done to the vehilce parts wise to compliment that setup, or even something that should be bought. IE: parts stronger than OEM.

Thanks again for your advice

Naz,

Give us a call sometime. We could use your programmer if it's a X3 or X4 SCT device. You would have or had to return the tune back to stock on the Expedition first though. If it's not un-locked from the Expe then you would have to send the device to SCT to unlock it which costs $150. Then you can get our email tune.

Nothing else on the truck needs to be changed to add the upgrade but I always recommend exhaust work and the bigger heat exchanger.

SOOONOFAMOTHERLESS GOAT!!!! :biggrin::biggrin:

i sold the damn thing without returning it to stock... DAMN

its the SCT 4x and living in dubai i guess thats going to be a huge pain in the rear to send it and then have them take care of it. Oh well my stupidity.

I guess we go from there...
