Little help with your thoughts on some upgrades I'm doing:

What is the difference / benefit between doing a custom tune at a shop with a Dyno and using the x4 preprogrammed tunes.

I am upgrading my screw 14'

I now have:
-Whipper SC
-CAI
-Borla exhaust
Adding:
-ARH headers
-60lbs injectors
-68mm throttle body
-cutout exhaust
-Afco duel heat exchanger
-spark plugs
-traction bars

Future upgrades:
-3.0 front and rear
-rear bump stops
-deaver rear spring set

I believe the JDM off the shelf tune is set up for the Ford Racing dual 65mm throttle body and 47 lb injectors. With the Whipple dual 68mm throttle body and 60 lb injectors, you are going to want a custom tune.

What size pulley are you running?

Your set up will be very similar to the Shelby Baja 700 trucks then. You could talk to Whipple about tuning.

That's correct
I have talked with them and thus the direction I'm going.
They want to sell me the x4, I'm wondering if a custom shop Dyno tune would be better

Whipple Tune!

The most common platform for Tuning the Raptor is the SCT software and handheld units.

And I would suggest if you still can, upping the Twin 68mm to the 71mm since your doing headers.

I'm running the Twin 68mm but I'm also running full stock exhaust.

And when you talk to Whipple make sure you let them know you plan on doing cutouts.
I'm not 100% sure if Whipple's in house Tuner would recommend them.

Why the 71mm?
Don't want to go to big without doing cam etc to the engine and trans issues?
thoughts?
What do you mean by Whipple tune?
The x4 Whipple suggestion?

The X4 is a handheld device, Tunes get loaded on there and then you connect it to your truck via OBDII port and upload the Tunes.

You'll get about 10 to 25 rwhp more than I do with the 71mm and headers.

I also highly recommend doing a oil pump gear set upgrade.

I understand that part
However, that is a preprogrammed tune, contingent on telling the computer what adds you have.
Isn't a true custom Dyno tune more accurate?
This is my basic question.
Thx

The Whipple Tuner (aka. a real person, LOL) has thousands of custom Dyno Proven Tune files for all kinds of setups.
The Whipple Tunes are not canned Tunes!!!
