The price is what I would expect for a muffler and a quick side dump.... $SW asking $900+ for the same thing is just ridiculous to me.

Fair enough, but keep in mind both systems in question are not the same but similar. We use 304L stainless steel which is a higher grade then the 409 in the JBA. Our muffler is a tuned dual in dual out design, they use a factory styel single in dual out muffler. SW is tuned for use with headers, the sound is very clean and crisp with headers, not screaming loud and raspy. Not many companies can honestly say they manufacture exhaust systems to match their own headers. We are proud of that due to the extended R&D time to make special mufflers per application. Each application from SW has its own design muffler, so we are not slapping on a universal muffler like other companies. Speaking of mufflers, forgot to mention our lightning style side exit catback incorporates a full length x-pipe inside the muffler for increased flow, better scavenging and balance power. So in short you get what you pay for, nothing against JBA as they make a quality product, but our system is different in comparison.

Same setup in question layin down some nice numbers...good work Livernois!

By looking at your website it seems that this setup only works with SW headers. Is that true? Is this system compliant with our stupid emissions laws in CA? I assume not, since nothing good is legal here...

Dont get me wrong, I do like the craftsmanship you guys put into your products, and you are right it is not an apples to apples comparison, but there isnt $600 extra in materials.... That is why I have a hard time with the price.
Without seeing your P&L i dont know what percentage of your cost is R&D, but again, I was just pointing out the Extra $600 is hard to swallow.

there is an option. the performance connect is for headers and the factory connect is for stock manifolds. they give u a y-pipe to connect it to the stock y-pipe

i love my SW lightning exhaust with headers!

We offer a factory connect bolt on catback side exit for the Super Crew only, Part no. FTRPT10CBFTY. The other option is to run the side exit with our headers for the full SW experience.

That is a decent point however a year or two from now let's take a look at both units and see how well they are holding up. Years ago I opted for a cheap muffler versus a expensive one made of higher quality materials. Year and a half later my cheap muffler had a hole in it. You truly get for what you pay for and usually a very good reason one item has a different value than another one.
