Hey guys,

Looking for everyone's thoughts on this. Currently own a 2020 Ram Rebel, 83k miles, fully loaded, zero issues so far, but I usually get the itch to swap every few years so here we are. This was my dream truck as a college kid, I can still remember seeing my very first one at the gas station. As far as maintenance goes down the road, my other vehicle is a 97 Grand Cherokee that I have done an absurd amount of work on. The 4.0 is solid....everytrhing else is not.

Do yall think this is a fair price?

Anything I should look for? Had pictures sent of wheel wells, shocks, no rust issues as far as I can see. Interior is immaculate. Just debating how much of a dice roll this truck is at 140k miles. I paid for a carfax and looks like it was mainly dealer maintained for its life, 2 owners, second owner having for 10 years.

Thanks for any and all advice!

I can’t offer much having not had a Gen 1. I did see a terrain colored Gen 1 this AM and can say you rarely see the terrain color. I’m glad this one isn’t close to Indy because I’d want it! And I need a 2nd Raptor sitting here whispering to me in my sleep with an endless list of wanted upgrades, like an elephant needs more ass! Lol! Plenty of Gen 1 folks here that can steer you right on what to look for! Good luck!

That's about average for the mileage. Maybe a little high. Check the rocker panels for rust (wheel wells are fiberglass). Has fuse 27 (or was it 26?) been done? Listen to cold startups. A little tick is normal, but it.should go away quickly. Smoke from the tail pipe?

You want to give up a ’20 Ram with 83k that has been trouble free for a 143k mile, 12 year old truck? Or you just want to buy the latter truck and keep the Ram?

If you’re serious and you’re not talking about a trade of your problem free Ram for a soon to be needy problem child, I’d suggest having a leak down test done, maybe even a scope of the cylinders. A prolonged test drive before agreeing.

Just because it looks clean, doesn’t mean it’s mechanically sound. At this point - a dozen years old, & over 140k, a lot of the suspension is probably well worn. Transmission, transfer case and differentials are also worth a look.

Like I said in the above link, a lot of FRF have fùck you money, but not many of us have fùck you time...
