True. However, aluminum burns and steel does not. The sailors of the USS Stark and the USS Cole can tell you.
It's funny that you mention that. Aluminum, like steel, has many grades and they are identified by a numerical designation. Saying "military grade" is meaningless because many different grades are used in military hardware. For example, the aluminum armor on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle is a different grade than that used in the airframe of the F-22 Raptor, and the aluminum in the F-22's airframe is a different grade from that used in its skin. So Ford's use of the term "military grade" is more deceptive than it is informative, and it's all marketing hype.
