I just did a car club run down to branson on a back twisty road. Everyone else drive g37s, mustangs, corvette z06, bmw m3. So I was kinda the big slow one, and we were hauling ass down this road. Without having the map to see what turns were coming, I would have probably crashed, or at least have not been able to keep up. the road is almost never used so the was maybe 3 oncoming cars but none in front of us. It was hella fun though. Heres the map of the fun part.

I agree whtrapta. Coming back through Idaho and Montana I was able to use the NAV as a sort of 'pre-runner' tool enabling me to approach corners etc. much faster at the right speed. I also notice it reduced eye fatigue on 8-9 hour drives.

I didn't order Nav with mine, wasn't worth the extra money and wait to me. I love my Garmin and will get me anywhere I need to go for alot cheaper, I didnt even think about the technology getting out dated like mentioned in this thread but that is very good point!! Since I intend to keep this truck for the rest of my life, LOL or maybe not..

I love the Nav. My 2010 Lariat did not have it because I have a Garmin as well. But the nav is awesome. The integration of controls for everything is really nice. Glad I have it this time. If you have the extra coin and can still get it, you will not regret it!

I didn't get the Nav, decided it was too much money for the simple reason I don't really think I need a built-in Nav... I have a Garmin I stuff in the arm storage, and can slap it on the window anytime I don't already know where I'm goin. 50 bucks versus... 2,200 bucks... With the exact same result of gettin from A to B. You do the math.

Honestly extremely glad I didn't buy another thing to go wrong with my truck some time down the road.

It would be something I'd have considered if the cost was significantly lower. I will say though that I have fiddled with the Nav in the trucks that did have it, and it was definately pretty cool... I guess if money is no object and you want somethin to look neat.... Nothin stoppin ya from forkin up for it ! I think they did a great job with the factory Nav setup. And it saves you the trouble of putting one in yourself or finding someone to do it for you.

I'm happy with my Garmin, it's a Knight rider GPS that I had in my black Camaro before & addresses me by name! lol.

Also.. I'd rather put something custom in at a later time if I ever feel like thats what I wanna put 2200 bucks into.. 2200 bucks would get me a new shell, a new light bar / bumper, some new wheels/tires , some vinyl / paint work... a whole lot of line-x.... or all kinds of other goodies I'd rather have. (Not all at once of course, but I could pick & choose). Most things on that list are more appealing/useful to me than a Nav.

All about individual preference though!

I'm sure everyone who went the route they preferred was equally happy in the end.

it depends on what you want... completely integrated truck computer system, or a "KISS" setup.

It is so much more than just NAV. It is an integrated computer system for the truck.
So when you are bouncing around off road the "garmin" unit is not bouncing around the cabin hitting you or your passengers.

And touch screen is so nice, easier to use and much easier to see.
I cant imagine having a backup cam (a great off road tool) without the large center screen.

The "NAV" is really an integrated computer with large touch screen and secure mounting.

If you want a race truck and want to keep it simple because you are going to rip the dash apart any way... then yea, skip the nav.

When you get the navigation screen, doe sit also come with the 6-disc CD changer? or is it only one-disc? Also, when your Sirius subscription runs out, can you still use the voice-guidance and the navigation itself or what? Sorry for the newb questions :( This is my first post.

Welcome.

The CD/DVD player that comes with the nav is 1 disc.

Nav does still work after the Sirius subscription runs out.

With the technology you get in a cell phone I really don't see the need for a 2K+ navigation in the truck. Pick up a $500 Lowrance gps and spend the rest on parts that improve the truck.
I picked this up a few weeks ago, its brand new. Thinking about selling it to get a larger unit(looks to small on my dash).

As I recall, you have to buy the luxury package in order to get the nav system. So that's $2,190 for the luxury package and $2,495 for the navigation system, a total of $4,685 or more than a ten percent bump in the price. Sales tax will be higher, of course, and since licence fees and insurance are based on purchase price, they'll be higher too. All that so you don't have to buy a $6.95 map. Not for me. I didn't buy either the lux or nav packages.
