Internet rumor.

Dyno graphs were provided, so it's hardly a rumor. If the truck was dyno'd on the same dyno and that dyno wasn't 'recalibrated' in between runs, then it is legit. You typically see some power increase as the engine breaks in but this instance is quite large.

I’ll reserve judgment. We have one instance reporting this, when we have 3 or more, with equal or similar results, then I’ll give this more credence than “unsubstantiated rumor”.

Look, i had a ZX11 with 155 rwhp with over 200 dyno runs. One day the operator hooked up dyno incorrectly, and it read 268 hp. Did my naturally aspirated, $8000 japanese inline 4 suddenly gain over 100 hp?

Nope. It was a cool looking dyno graph though. Correctly hooked up after a cool down showed back to the 155 range.

so yeah, color me skeptical.

It's not far fetched at all that a mfr might set limits during a early break in period.

Dyno'd mine at 1000mi, coincides with 5stars early low # dyno. Plan to return to same dyno once I pass 2000 to confirm.

5 Star posted this week too that they now have a moderate power VCM tune avail, no TCM tune yet though.

"Here are some comparison numbers on the Gen 2 Raptor.
Pink: Day 1 Stock Run with 170 miles.
Green: Stock baseline post 2000 miles of abuse and torture.
Red: Moderate tune establishing baselines.
Current HP gains over day 1, +79 hp to the rear wheels. More numbers to follow."

Interesting... Haven't heard this before but it also makes a little bit of logical sense as well... Let us know what you find.
