GEN 2 iPhone volume

As soon as I get in my truck, the volume on my iPhone X automatically cranks up to the highest setting. When I get out and go about my day, I forget this happens and get quickly reminded that the ringer is set at max kill when someone calls me.
WTF does this occur and how do I stop it??

Edit.. so far so good. now have to pay attention to the regular volume settings
