So, my '12 will have the factory autostart but I was wondering if anyone makes an iPhone compatible add on for it? I really don't want to get a non-factory autostart installed over the factory one just so I can get the iPhone to work with it. Anyone have any easy solutions?

Just FYI I know Viper makes a kit compatible with iPhones and Blackberrys, but that doesn't really answer your question.

I don't believe it exists yet with the Ford lineup. It would require some sort of cellular device to be built into the truck from factory and use something like the Sync Cloud services to be able to run (communicate to your smart phone).

Other manufacturers have it so I don't think its really that far away for Ford to start doing but it just isn't there yet, so if its something your really have to have or want that bad I believe your only option as of right now is going aftermarket.

why do you need it on the phone, when the key for the truck has it? I mean, I understand the use if the vehicle didn't come with factory remote start, and you had an aftermarket alarm installed. Because then, obviously, the vehicles key wouldn't have the buttons for it... but our trucks do.

Help me understand the reason... I'm a little fuzzy this morning... :birgits_tiredcoffee

I can only think that its a distance thing; say your office is along ways away from the truck and you wanted to remote start it a few minutes before leaving work, with cellular communications distance becomes a non issue for the range it would work, other than that I'm not sure either.

For me if the app had more than just remote start; like lock/unlock, vehicle status such as, trip A/B info, miles to empty, vehicle location, etc would be nice to be able to do from a smart phone, though I would then have something else to worry about as far as hackers trying to fine a way into my truck... (just thinking out loud).

The answers are kind of what I figured. I was just hoping maybe someone would make a module that plugged inline into the factory unit that was a cell phone receiver.

As far as my reasoning: Both of my vehicles now have aftermarket remote start with 2-way remotes. It's awesome here in the winter to be able to start your truck and be able to be sure it actually started and is running/ warming up. Also, since the factory system has only 1 remote start key, it would be nice for my wife to be able to dial it up on her phone when she is driving it so she can start it and let it warm up without having my special key. The final reason is that it would be nice to be able to start it and let it warm up every couple of days when we are on vacation in the winter. With the cell phone module I can do it from anywhere with cell coverage.

It comes with 2 remote start keys from the factory, just FYI
Oh, cool, that's super good to know. I just assumed it would only come with one. Mine is supposed to be here on Monday....but it's still on a dock in WA so I'll believe it when I see it. Hahaha.

FYI , all of my neighbors know when I start my Raptor. Bahhahahaha.

Yeah, I'll be able to hear it at home, but through the government buildings I work at...probably not so much. Or while checking out at the store...again, not so much.
