Recently installed a Full Race intercooler w Cobb intake in my 19. Under the higher levels of boost I hear a whistle along with the turbos spinning. I am assuming this is a boost leak in one of the connections? I have gone through everything and all appears tight. I don't want to tighten things too much and collapse a pipe. Whats the best way to troubleshoot? Soap and water? I have concerns if that will work not under boost pressure.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

honestly, i’d say it is increased noise from the intake. how does the truck run? any stumbling or anything like that?

i’m not convinced that it is in fact a boost leak

Normal! I have a gen2 3.5 non raptor xlt with COBB intake and I hear what you are describing. I run 5* 91perf tune with Mishimoto CAC and Full Race 3" cat back.....truck rips! Out of curiosity, did your truck have the silencer rings in the turbo inlet pipes right at the clamps?

Sounds like you're just hearing increased induction from the intake. Your truck will throw a code if it detects loss of boost.

You tuned? If have access port or another way of seeing boost that will answer your question. Otherwise, I suggest taking a video.

Hi Dave

After installing my new IC i had similar issue and NO indication that there was something "wrong" / However one of the Clamp rings right on the top at the intake where to loose. The Tension of tightening is kind of regulated with a Spring over the tightening screw. Did you check both rings on the intake ?

I’m thinking the same thing that it’s the intake. A boost leak is a very significant thing and would be felt in the power. More than likely if it were to leak it would just pop off where it is loose. Video for real help.

I have been going back and forth all week if it was a leak or not. I tried to get video, but it was difficult to hear. I went through everything I could over the week but the two clamps that connect to the intercooler were in a tough spot. I thought I positioned the clamps in a place I could get to them but not once grill went on. So I tore the front end off. I had to know either way...like most of us. And of course it was one of the clamps I couldn't reach. Probably a good thing, it allowed me to fix the clamp position just in case of an issue on the trails.

Yes, Gearhead tune.

Moab in two weeks. I love these trucks!

Thanks for the feedback!

You should order this afe scoop to finish off the cobb intake. I ordered a red one, should be here Wednesday. Prob no performance gains but it would compliment the intake and blue beast.
