Installed Geiser springs and thinking about removing them.

Last December I installed all four springs (front and rear) on my 2022 35 Raptor, the issue is the ride is stiffer than before at the front, especially on the speed bumps. I heard that the front springs could damage the factory top hats and I was told that I should replace the springs with SDI top hats or Foutz Top Hats.

By replacing the front springs with SDI or Foutz top hats will the ride be smoother than what it is now?

Will I get the same height as what it is now or it will be back as stock height?

What is the difference between SDI and Foutz and what is your recommendation?


Here are some photos of my truck (it could look it is squatting a little on the rear).

Note: I’m Overlanding on the truck.

I have seen Greg Foutz comment on this in a few other forums. I do not believe the ride will soften at all with the new top hats because the stiffness is coming from the progressive design of the spring which is stiffer than stock. The reason for the top hats is it becomes with next weak point in the system and changing the top hat as well as a limiting strap would negate any opportunity for failure under heavy stress.

The FMI top hats come in either stock height, +1, or +1.5, and +2". I believe the SDI's are 1.75". If it were me I would go FMI with no lift since you already have 2.5" of lift over stock from the Geiser springs, or go to a softer front spring in the front like the eibachs or Icons and then get the height back with a taller top hat.

I would verify all of this info by calling FMI. They are super helpful over there. Any info I have is just from going by their shop and talking to them at shows since they are local to my area. They are the experts on this stuff so I would solicit their advice. Nice looking truck too!

Def throw a set of take off factory 37 wheels/tires to close that gap though

Pretty sure Geiser are progressive and Eibach are linear.

I just ordered the rear ICON springs which are supposed to be triple progressive rate with a 1" lift. We'll see how they feel. My truck is a 37PP so just looking to slightly raise the rear with all my off-road gear in the bed.

In the past 3 Raptors, ive never done the Spring route like you have done... Ive always done perch collars and couldn't stand how much stiffness they added...similar to the gripes with the springs...

We all love the stock plush ride the Raptors give.. and get sad when its not there anymore.. Im 200% guilty of that and swore id never do it again. (I dont do baja. Just trips to the dunes, beach and mountains every moth or so)

So, for my newest truck I went with the www.indexsuspension.com top hats (I did the full 37" kit)... and I shit you not, it was the best lift/level ive ever done... 100% the same ride as stock. I highly recommend checking it out.

Thanks for your helpful feedback, but what I meant is I’m removing the front Geiesr spring and going with stock springs with SDI or FMI top hats.

Check out the Index and why they don’t suggest the bearing style in the kits you mentioned.

All the money you are spending on crap parts and labor, you just have gotten a set of FOX FRS coil overs and called it day. Ride is plush and your truck will handle as it should, not like crap where the struts are topping out far too hard and shocks are under dampened.

Do you have stock UCA?
I currently have same setup as you do, geisers on all four corners with stock height FMI Tophats with RPG UCA. My prior setup was SDI 1.75 tophats & factory front springs with 1.5 eibach rear springs.

Do I really need FOX FRS Coilover, especially for overloading? Aren't my Factory Fox shocks are enough and they still can give more?

I know I spending my money on parts that could be useless, and that's what I’m trying to avoid by asking the guys here to make sure I'm on the right way.
