Ordered mine thru out of state dealer (Team Ford, LV) and when I showed up all I paided for was the MSRP plus document fee....then brought it back here to CA to pay out the nose in fee's and sales tax - 10%

Solid work. I did the same with Auto Nation Ford in Arlington Tx. They were awesome. And the drive back could have been boring, but behind the wheel of a new badass race truck and I really didn’t notice.

Did the same last June, bought from Jim Parisi at Marshall Ford (O'Fallon. MO) for $1K under and drove it back to CA via I70. Had a blast staying with friends in Denver then spending two days in Moab, UT. Scenery was fantastic and a KS State Trooper even stopped by to say hello and check out my new truck. I had pulled off the hwy to get pics of the new truck. One thing my local DMV office insisted on was the weight certificate (even though I gave them the original MSO). But it only took 10 mins and was $11.00 so no big deal. Beware that CA DMV charges a penalty if you don't register a vehicle purchased out of state within like 10 to 20 days (check me on this it's been awhile) but a significant penalty would have been charged had I waited for my appointment (which was 6 weeks out) rather than standing in line earlier. Would do this again in a heartbeat and OP is correct most all new vehicles are 50 state emissions compliant these days...Pic of my 1st off road adventure near Monument Valley, AZ.
