Not a big fan of the "Magnum" but I look the look of the bumper. This follows the truck lines nicely. Tubular bumpers aren't for everyone (i dislike how aero suffers with the front end parts all showing). The rear bumper appears to offer plenty of protection and also matches the truck's line nicely.

I'm not sure where you read this, but I'll take your word for it because low carbon steel and mild steel are essentially synonymous; they're basically the most common form of steel available and there's noting special about it. I don't have a problem at all with low carbon or mild steel; the tubular bumper I would like to buy is constructed of 0.120" wall mild steel. My issue was with the fact that the manufacturer is referring to it as "carbon steel" like it's something special when in fact every type/grade of steel known to mankind has at least a small % of carbon in its composition. Now if it contained some magical element like kryptonite or unobtanium... ok then I would want to point that out too.

Again, I couldn't find this on the website either, but I only looked briefly. Technically only 7 gauge stainless steel is truly 3/16" (0.1875"); 7 gauge mild steel is slightly thinner, but it's close enough to call the same.

Agreed that a 7 gauge plate bumper should definitely be stronger than the OEM bumper and do a better job at minimizing damage in the event of smacking bambi at speed, but I still don't think it's in the same ball park with any of the above mentioned tubular bumpers in terms of strength.

As for the bumpers appearance, the style is not for me and I don't think it goes well with the overall look of the Raptor. I wouldn't put it on any Ford just because it's called the Magnum RT bumper and both of those names scream Dodge... ok that's a joke. The OP was asking for help and recommendations and seemed specifically concerned about deer protection, so that's what I was trying to help him with. After reading his post again, I don't even think he really loves the look of the bumper because he described it as 'not looking terrible.'

Perhaps they said "carbon" steel. Not to be mistaken for stainless steel???

I like the look of the bumper. But given the font end of the raptor, a traditional "I'll kick your ass" bumper is hard to fit up.

Good question! I don't know why I picked apart this one... I think I was just bored. Maybe this one just perked my interest because it eluded to the fact that the tubular style bumpers weren't strong. Regardless of my intention, I see that my posts may have come across too aggressive and/or opinionated and I didn't mean them in that way; especially towards Stepside, I value your counterpoints.

thank you all for the input. And you would be correct Baja. I am not a big fan of it. and to be honest, I don't think it would protect me here in Oklahoma. Most deer here are hit while jumping and get hit high up on trucks not near the lower bumper. That is why I was trying to find something different than the normal pre-runners. However, ADD makes a rancher style and it may be my only option.

and also I guess I should state that my baby will be mostly a street queen with the occasional off road when I'm up at the farm.

There are no baja jumps anywhere near me that I know of. ha.
