I'm not in the market for one just tossing ideas. Wheela, if you're serious about this I don't think it'd be tough to do. Just mock something up with pvc pipe and create a latch system of some sort to lock it onto the 4 tiedowns. Hell, if you made the prototype rigid enough I don't see why it wouldn't suffice as a proper bed rack.

I was just having fun, I dont even have mine yet (sometime this week fingers crossed) but I was in support of your idea, but I am a consumer and I buy things not make them. I was saying YOUR idea was smart, I dont have time to make things and I live in an apartment so I dont got room to even try and make something like that. :Grenade:

I hear ya man. I love a great idea myself. Maybe I'll play with some pvc in the summer time after school.

If only I could weld. I have the rest of the tools to make them. I have the ORP bed rack.

FYI: Those tie down points aren't that strong.

I so wish i had the knowledge and tools to do fab work, i have a couple ideas for bed systems.

Hell, go down to sdhq and use their stuff. I forget who did on here. He went down there and built a rear bumper.

Yeah.... I have some welding experience.

I was gonna bring that up but im glad you did. Hard desert abuse would bend those easily. Especially with a heavy tire or two, a cooler, recovery gear, and a jack. Easily 150 pounds! Thats why an actual tubular frame on the bed bolts would be ideal. Also I bet if it went to every single bed bolt, it would strengthen it alot!

Okay I think I have it!!!!

A detachable bed rack...
1 spare tire holder
2 blitz can holders
Recovery gear holder
1 shovel holder
cooler holder:peace:

The bed bolts will have small rails in a rectangle design with a hole in the top. The front two bars on the rack itself with hinge and snap into the front two. The back two will snap down into the other locations and be held in by a pin. It will be easily removable, but strong enough to withstand abuse. Follow this thread, I may be on to something here!!!
