I fell in love with my Tux Black 2014 Screw Raptor, bought it 2 years ago with 132k miles, and have been fixing it up slowly, but have wanted SOOO much more. I put in a 5 Star tune, Banks CAI and Magnaflow exhaust. I picked up some used Icon 3.0 Stage 1 shocks, with 3.0 triple bypass rears for cheap, plan to send 'em in for rebuilding, but it was hard to justify spending a lot more on her, now with 140k miles.

So when I found this Ruby Red 2014 Raptor SE for sale 20 miles away, I had to jump on it!

It's got 99k miles, but 7k miles ago (3 years ago) he had the engine replaced by the local Ford dealer. 75 yr old gentleman had a pretty good story, his intention was to build it up to prerun Baja with his friends, so he built it up nicely, but in the meantime his buddies sold their trucks, so this one never made the run. He was the 2nd owner, first was also here in California, and his story matched the CarFax. He said the 6.2 started making a ticking noise from what sounded like the valvetrain area, and a mechanic friend said it sounded like a rod bearing. The Ford service manager said it sounded like a valvetrain noise. He had them replace the valvetrain on that side, and the noise got WORSE! The dealer said since he was a loyal customer, they'd apply the whole $3k for the valvetrain repair towards a new engine, and he went for it. I crawled all over under this truck and everything was brand new. No rust. New engine, all sorts of new suspension, frame cut bumpers, the list goes on! In 7k miles he said he change the oil 3 times. Once at about 1k, drained the break-in oil, and twice more after that. Diffs and trans oil changed too. He handed me a folder full of receipts and they all checked out.

The truck market right now appears to be soft. He started at $45k 3 weeks earlier and had no takers. Dropped the price to $40k when I saw it, and he took $38k from me. Seemed like a no-brainer, considering his mods were right there with the mods I wanted to do with my Black Raptor.

He had the OEM 2.5 Fox Shox rebuilt by Forged Offroad, stage 1 with flutter valving mod. They look new. I'll take those off and put on the refreshed 3.0 Icons. I've already uploaded my 5 Star Tune and swapped the CAI to this Raptor, and it RIPS just like the other one! He called this a 2014 1/2 SE, production date 7/2014. Does anyone know if there's any other difference between my 2014? He said it came from the factory with Amp Research power steps.

It does need some work. I found a torn front CV boot (yes, shocks are on mid-perch), I noticed the Lee power steering system did not have the yellow Lee ps fluid, it had red ATF in it, so I'll fix that stuff, but because of the Amp research steps, there are a few paint chips in the fwd facing rear bedside flare, so, mud flaps are in my future, and some really long camper shell rash in the paint just below the bed cap . Otherwise, it's in great shape! He included new bedside Raptor decals he bought when he was thinkin' about repainting the bedsides, two spare SE beadlocks with new K02's, and the truck has 7k mi K02's too. Oh, and a really cool NEON Raptor bar light that I put on my mantle piece :p !!!

I've got a new pair of front half axles I got on Marketplace from a guy that sold his G1. Does anyone know if there's a good split boot kit I can put on that boot while I'm getting the 3.0's rebuilt? Now I gotta sell the Tux Black Raptor and a couple other clunkers and I'll pay off this loan before summer's over! I'll post some more pics after I wash it this weekend.

Below is the list of options:

Welded Plate Reinforced lca frame holes with the good eccentric align cams

morning.......... again..........

paul (infinity overland) does not associate with forged offroad. he sold his share of the company back in 2018 before it all went to shit.

do not use a split boot for the axle

i guess ca prices havent come down yet.

come out to fallon at the end of the month. you can meet paul, and more importantly, me.

I was thinkin' of split boot for a month until my 3.0 Icons are rebuilt, then I'll replace both half axles while changing the shocks.

I was literally jumping to conclusions on Forged = Infinity because on IO's site, their gen 1 rear bumper is identical to my Forged. This is from IO's site:

CA prices have dropped but it's all relative. Yea I may have paid $1,000 more than I'd like to, but considering the p/o's receipts add up to nearly $35,000, and the new motor from Ford, I had to jump on it! I'd looked at a few others that came out of TX, CO and UT and it's so refreshing to slide under a truck that's lived in CA all it's life, and the only rust is on the exhaust.

Heck yea I'll come out there and visit you guys! I'd like to check out your shop! Are you guys separate businesses or partners?

nope. paul is just a very good friend of mine. we used to do run and gun days before there were raptor groups. we would run around in nevada, stop to blow shit up and then keep on running. i actually sold my shop and moved to colorado, but it was/is in mountain view. sold it to a friend of mine. i fly out there on occasion to do an install on special requests. you can text me (831) 254-7562 if you want to join us in nevada

I always did love those SE colors. Congrats on the find. Should be a good truck for you.
