If you are paying MSRP for a Raptor there's no way I can see 13K over an FX4 for one... My difference was only around 5500 for similar trucks so the choice was easy for me.

I was weighing a new fx4 vs. A used raptor(couldn't afford a new) in my situation the new 150 had more upgrades and newer technology then a 2011 raptor. I was liking the ecoboost for the mpg and twin turbo. Also I liked the candy red. Plus I didn't want to tune a brand new truck and woulda ended up putting a lift, wheels and tires on it anyways.
Ended up with a 2011 raptor. There are 150s all over the road. I see a lot of raptors too but they still stand out more. If you can get a new one in that red, that's what I would do. So vicious. If that's your only vehicle get the raptor. If you got other toys and on somewhat a budget maybe a used raptor or new 150.

owned both the FX4 and now the raptor. Two completely different trucks. I got rid of a 2006 Z06 vette to get this thing and I don't regret it a bit.

I F^(king love my Raptor!
If I got a FX I would not feel the same. I've owned some higher end/nice vehicles and the Raptor is one of my most favorites. I'm very happy with my purchase.

fx4 can blow me. I have my old one sitting next to my raptor right now. I almost went tundra this time but for the same price got a raptor. I was done with f150 style trucks.

I will say this. If it's a monetary issue, FX4. If you want to max out your tow/haul capability, FX4. If you just want a truck to get from point A to B, FX4. If you test drive an FX4 then a Raptor and don't appreciate, the smiles per gallon, then FX4. Honestly I have no choice to be biased on this because I have wanted this truck since I first heard about it. Took a few years but SO worth it. Especially after that first time hitting the same trails I use to hit in my old F150. I have to admit the extra width did take sometime to get use to. I curbed my tires more the first year than the entire time I've owned 3 different F150's & a Bronco over the span of 20 years. I believe a simple test drive will help you decide what course of action you should take.

^ Uh-oh. Is this about the relative benefits and capabilities of one 4x4 verses another, or is this about pathological compensation for things that cannot be rectified?

Back to the thread. My last three vehicles were trucks, two of which were 4x4s. I drove a Nissan D21 Hardbody 4x4 for 19 years. Great truck for its time. It would pull you out of a jam like nobody's business, and it was hardly electronic at all. You had to gap the valves periodically. Next was a GMC Canyon 5-cylinder 2 wheel drive. A good all purpose vehicle, but almost dangerous on a Jeep trail. Then the Raptor. The Raptor was the first vehicle (and probably the last) vehicle I purchased that was exactly what I wanted. No compromises at point of sale. I love the thing, and I don't normally love inanimate objects. It's a go anywhere, do anything monster. IT IS A MONSTER, and monsters are not for everyone. Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware.

Resale, stop by someone's lot that has a 2 year old Raptor, they're asking and getting almost what a new one costs! Don't think the FX4 comes even close! But, like the rest of us, I'm highly prejudiced. At least your sticking with a Ford!!! Good luck though.
