http://www.fordraptorforum.com/atta...tmp_5504-img_20150618_195922553-791066229.jpgmagnetic switch. i have a bunch if you need.
i do the passenger side because of the deezee (or any tailgate assist) goes on the drivers side usually. it will get in the way if they are on the same side and the magnet will get knocked off. i use the red 3m tape. it is weatherproof and hold strong. its hard to tell, but there is an 1/8th inch piece of abs plastic under the magnet to act as a spacer to get the switch and magnet close enough. also put one under the switch side as well.http://www.fordraptorforum.com/atta...tmp_5504-img_20150618_195922553-791066229.jpg
I put my reed switch on the driver's side and ran the wires out of the little hole toward the top of the bed panels. The problem I ran into is the tailgate cable catches on the magnet. Didn't even think about running it this way. Going to move mine to bottom like this. Noah, any particular reason to go out the passenger side? What would be a good adhesive tape to use to relocate the reed switch?
i just put a toggle switch inline up front. the mag switch has 2 wires. one goes to ground and the other is connected to the electronics. when the switch is closed, the connection is open. meaning that when thr tailgate is closed, ground does NOT pass through. when the switch is open, the connection is closed meaning that ground DOES pass through. the ground on the second wire triggers the relay to allow the lights to turn on. so the toggle switch is on the wire that is NOT ground all the time. if i turn the switch off, then ground will never pass through to the relay or my alarm. i use it whenever i have to drive with the tailgate down.
Exactly. Works well too. And if you ever have bed spread issues and your magnetic switch isn't working (like in my case) you can still over ride the circuit and have functional lights. After I read this about 10 times I realized you put the toggle switch in between the magnetic switch and the ground point.
Tried it and of course it works. Thanks.
