My throttle stated rusting. Immediately wire brushed all the ****** spots. Primered with rust oleum and painted with armor liner. Looks great. No more rust. Way better looking than powder coat or Linex. Strong. Easy to clean. Cheaper.

Line-x wont stop, I have both mine done and its still rusting but not as fast. HIMO the only way is using POR-15 and making sure the surface is prepped very good. Should have it dipped to remove everything that start the prep steps for the paint. I painted my FORD 8N tractor 12 years ago and its still great looking now but, it doesnt see salt.

The road salt and other chemicals don't help, but I keep the truck sprayed off in the winter to try and keep it from rusting out.

I'm going to look around and see how much it's going to cost to get it prepped and Line-Ex'd...

Needless to say, I'm not happy.

Unfortunately it is the great unspoken. All these great aftermarket parts can't stand up to the rust belt. Wether it is tie rods, bumpers, shocks... they are only going to last 2-3 years. You almost have to put these built trucks in a can until the seasons change. I am only speaking from experience. It does get tiring replacing this expensive stuff.

Obvious who's bumper that is. The vendor won't help you out? @Jimbo

When I ordered mine, I ordered it with Line-X so the manufacturer had it done. Well worth it in the beginning.

We do have a 1 year warranty on powder. Where you live, the best idea would be to Line-X it. Alternatively, using the method @2014RubyRed posted is a cheaper solution that can be re-applied/touched-up in the future fairly easily.

Feel free to PM me and I can let you know some other ideas.

When I ordered it I was assured by a female from the vendor that powder coating would hold up much better than the Line-Ex in "road-salt" environments. You'd think a several thousand bumper and coating would've held up better.

Even the 1 year warranty doesn't sound too promising. I wish I would've spoken up sooner.

PM headed your way.

Whatever you do, use one of the modern rust converters on the bare metal before recoating. If finishing yourself also use a self-etching primer. I've personally never used it, but POR-15 is prolly a good choice.

Agreed. POR15 is a great base OR can be used as a finishing product. I've dealt with both and both yielded good results.
