where are these roads???
Ever spend any time in Gilroy, Watsonville, San Martin, Morgan Hill? Uvas or Chesbro or Mt Madonna? Lots of good (although probably private) short to medium rides in and around those areas. And of course Hollister Hills isn't bad if you take it easy.

Also some cool stuff on the coastal side; Coast Road and Old Coast Road north of Big Sur is neat and Tassajara Road in Carmel is very pretty...

Nothing like what the guys in the desert have, don't get me wrong. But enough to keep me pacified weekend to weekend. Especially when it gets muddy :)

ya my parents live in Gilroy, And I ride my motorcycle up in a lot of those areas. I would love to know where these "possibly private" dirt roads are.
and the coastal stuff sounds awesome too. If you have some time PM me with a little info on how to find these places.

I'll do some gps waypointing next time I'm out and PM you details. :)

As for the coastal routes, here's the details on the Coast Road: http://www.svtoffroad.com/showthread.php?1009-Coast-Road-Big-Sur-CA

And here's the details on Old Coast Road (different from Coast Road, but very close in proximity): http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attracti...eviews-Old_Coast_Road-Big_Sur_California.html

And here's Tassajara Road: http://www.trails.com/tcatalog_trail.aspx?trailid=BGS130-052

offroad a handfull of times... every day driven on the beach during my summer trip to the outer banks. around here its just old logging trails / gas well access roads - when they're not fenced off. Had it in low range a couple times pulling some big trees around, draggin them out so we could cut them up. worked just fine..

Mine has not been offroad....unless you count driving across a 20 acre picked corn field.

There are to many idiot drivers around here, and they salt the hell out of the roads every time it snows. We have 4 vehicles, so my raptor is put up for the winter in our heated garage. I say "Hi" to it every morning when I leave for work, and in the afternoon when I get home. If I want to play in the snow, I hop in the F250.
