I have had a pretty horrid experience with the dealer I ordered my raptor from but its finally delivered.

I was wondering what I can expect to see on the odometer upon pickup and worst case scenario if I see actual wear and tear on the vehicle or excessive miles do I have a case for refusing the vehicle and taking the deposit back outright (and ordering a 2019 :) elsewhere)

Mine had around 12 miles.

But I think anything under 25 or so is normal

There was a post on this a year ago. 13 on mine. I think the lowest was 7. Ford does a test drive after assembly. Miles in transit. And the dealer normally does a test drive and a run to the gas station for a fill up. Some trucks that had an issue identified came with 100 miles on the clock and a note from Ford explaining the extra milage.

My wife had a similar issue and if you signed a purchase order, they can keep the money. That said, you can still exercise customer privilege to extract a perfectly delivered vehicle; as perfect as you want to hold them to.

They’re probably going to do PDI and prep for the sale. this is a rudimentary going over, wash and clean. There was a post a while back ‘post all your 2017 Raptor problems here’

I used that post as the basis for numerous checks. I got to the dealer while it was still bright and sunny, and the truck was ready, as promised. I took pictures from every angle, engine compartment, bed, underneath, even the cabin. I checked tire pressure with my known gauge. Next we went for a spirited test drive, about 45 minutes. Light was failing when we got back but I got more pics, checked underneath and in the engine compartment as best I could with a surefire (flashlight). Once we were satisfied there were no obvious flaws, we went inside for paperwork, and when mostly complete we returned to the truck for the discussion about all the tech that we didn’t talk about on the test drive. That was probably another 45 minutes. We didn’t leave until all questions were answered, and it was after dealer close.

It’s your money, and you can be as thorough or casual as you like, but my last new car I missed a curbed wheel and luckily the dealer covered it.

I checked the paint on every panel, seams, door open / close, underneath for known issues - excessive rust, obvious leaks, loose connectors or cable bundles, and other stuff I had read about.

My dealer was happy to not only let me go over the truck with a fine tooth comb but also offered to assist.

Also, periodically Ford withholds some trucks for QA and may put extra miles on the truck. Mine had over 100 miles on the clock, but the dealer left the punch list accounting for all the miles. My selling dealer experience with the Rap was positive across the board though.

Good luck!

thanks for the incredibly helpful answers guys.
I would not accept a truck with 100 miles on it as new.. thats most certainly overboard.

i'll let everyone know how it went eventually!

Mine had around 45. I think depending on the dealer proximity to the Dearborn assembly plant, they are just driven to the dealer lots. My transport method was listed as "convoy".

15, without the trip to gas station. I was supposedly the only "customer" that drove it. My test drive included the trip to gas station for the fill up.

Mine had 13 miles on it. Was as near to perfect as I could expect, not a scratch anywhere and I looked hard.

Mine had just over 9 miles. Probably had around 7 when it got to the dealer and they moved it around for PDI and cleaning and to their custom shop for tint.
