Figured I’d throw a thread up. I’m hopefully becoming a new Gen 1 owner within the next week or so, but Im not new to trucks or offroad trucks etc… I’ve had 3 TRXs which were my favorite truck so far. Several Ram 2500s and in total 11 trucks since 22, I move trucks a lot. Recently grabbed an LSK long travel tundra which is awesome but with the rear cantilever it does limit the truck ability and for that reason I’m selling it already after a month.

Gen 1 raptors have always been a favorite of mine even though I’m not a Ford guy, at all. I have my eye on a couple potential trucks and am looking forward to giving it a go. I considered a mid travel tundra and I still am but the Raptors I’m looking at have a slight advantage in the power department thanks to whipple. Looking forward to contributing and learning as I go!

Not a Ford guy.... I'm not familiar with that term.. like a transgender woman?

Yes, exactly. I’m a straight, Christian male so buying a Ford confuses me hahaha

Nah I just grew up in a mopar house is all. Ironically my dad owned a 69 CJ Mach 1, but we just always owned mopars even though they’re crap too. Thanks for the warm welcome

Good morning you definitely get an A for creativity by circumvention of the 100 post to kinda sell things rule . Let me enlighten you on comparing ford & mopar if they were crap . Ford would be a nice healthy slam dunk log while Mopar a runny squirt. Good luck finding a nice gen 1

Tough crowd. I already have a buyer for my tundra and am not looking for a buyer here or circumventing the rules. I’m a member of several forums and understand the rules.
I did however think some would be interested in the build on the tundra since there’s a lot of prerunners here.
Clearly this forum can’t appreciate fun banter. I’m thick skinned though and can take it.

I didn't see the op as trying to circumvent anything, never once mentioned a price, just shared that the Tundra was his current ride, and he wasn't impressed, and was hopefully joining the Gen 1 gang. Welcome to FRF, you'll have a love hate relationship with your Gen 1, but it's worth it in the end! Let's see what you're looking at, or at least give us a breakdown on what you're looking at!

I am hoping what you're looking at has some sort of upgraded suspension, otherwise I'd imagine it would feel lack luster compared to the LT Tundra!

Thank you.

There are a few I’m looking at. Both whipple SCs, one mostly stock other than that and the other has a modified stock suspension, wheels tires etc… I don’t think I want an LT system, I’d like a well tuned mid travel that retains mostly stock truck abilities. I don’t have plans for taking it off jumps as it’ll be my daily. But I am known for saying one thing and then 2 months throwing my wallet at it hahaha

The Gen 1 in opinion checks all the right boxes. Pretty damn reliable, V8, enough creature comforts for daily duties, great presence and a nostalgic feel. I’m not naive to the potential issues that may pop up, this will be my 46th vehicle so I try to be realistic but after 11 Rams I’m looking forward to relatively easy repairs

I agree 100%, you still get that old reliable feeling in them, with enough updated features to make it a nice daily. Most, if not all, (it has been all) of my issues have been electrical bugs. Granted mine just rolled 190k on it, other than electrical problems, the only mechanical issues I have had has been the 4WD system, at the hubs, just the IWEs and hubs. Not sure how much digging you have done on the IWEs, but I'll spare details unless you'd like to hear a little more. Nothing to deter you from purchasing, and it's a cheap and simple repair, just annoying. I just installed RCV IWE delete sleeves, and couldn't be happier.
