Here’s my story.
Bought some -12 offset wheels and moved my higher mileage K02s over. After a road trip the ride was getting bumpy. Real bumpy. I realized there was some uneven wear on the K02s. Swapped them out with OE sized Ridge Grapplers. Tire looks amazing, rides like sh*t, but felt better at 29psi cold. Assuming it was the high offset wheel, I put the grapplers on the stock wheels. Better ride, but not much. Currently running at 36 cold. I’m having the truck looked at to make certain nothing else is going on suspension, driveline and bearing wise. Do Grapplers really ride that much rougher than K02s? What is the lowest pressure I can safely run on the highway to soften this thing up? Any other suggestions or am I going to have to ride this out?

Hearing millions of nubes on the jeep site complain about ride quality when they go from a kia telluride to a jeep-

-12 Offset plus an e-load will really “jerk things off” as far as ride quality goes. Plus dont forget unsprung weight is prolly 10lbs per corner conservatively which is a decent amount. Tires are part of suspension. The c- load tires aired down to 35 make the Raptor nice and squishy. Once any suspension arm angles go above parallel there is a great difference on how the chassis handles jolts. It turns from absorption to reflection. Once you start adding ply’s to tires they go from being bouncy to being firm and that makes you feel every little bump. The raptor has such good suspension travel / spring rate and wheel base that it can shrug some of the tire problems off but for the most part, id always advise against a heavier e rated tire.

The “E” rated grapplers I have feel like an off-road tire….. because it is. It’s going to be somewhat of a rough ride. Yet i still have a pretty plush ride. Geisers, and +3 deavers. But like you, for on-road use 36psi seems to be the sweet spot for the least amount of jerky ness. But what you’re describing and what “space ghost” pointed out, is a side effect of “E” rated tire.

I bought my truck used with 20" wheels and Ridge Grapplers already on it. I hated them both, the tires didn't channel water very well in heavy rain and the ride quality of the 20's and E rated tires was awful. Can't speak to snow or mud performance as I junked them before I got to that point. Went to some D rated Wrangler Duratracs on 17" wheels and couldn't be happier with the ride and performance.

At 38k miles I went from stock K02s to Grapplers and experienced just the opposite. Noise was obviously better but I also think the handling and smoothness was improved. Handling in snow and rain has been great. No issues.
It’s really not a fair comparison old tire to new tire, but I like the Nittos.
I do a lot of highway, am at 80k miles and the noise is slowly returning. I will seriously consider Nitto Tera Grapplers for my next tire. They won’t look as good as Ridge Grapplers but might be a better blend for me (highway vs off road).
Anyone running Tera Grapplers? I am curious how they look.

This.

There are some nice load range C tires coming out in the 315/70R17 size though thanks to more Raptors being produced and Sasquatch Bronco's using this size. I know Toyo offers the AT3 (35x12.50), RT and MT in load range C. And Goodyear has the OEM Bronco Territory M/T tire. And General has the X3 35x12.50R17 Load Range C
Classic case of Load C vs Load E

Those Nitto's are rough. My wife's Ram came with them from the dealer that way. The Ram rides like a tank but when they wear out, were putting something softer. That thing kicks your ass on long trips. They have great tread life though.

I loved the ridge grapplers on my last truck, great tire for diesels too with a load rage F. And I would run them on my Raptor if they made them in load range C. I had load range E's on the Raptor for a little bit and swapped back to stock tires for the ride. If you want a more aggressive looking tire, look at the Toyo Mt's. Come in stock size and load range C but they weigh more than the BFG's.
