These are called dealer doc fees or document fees. It's different from state to state. And yes most folks forget to ask. I always ask.

And don't forget, you will have to pay a sales tax also.

Just took a closer look at my invoice....I was too excited when signing the docs that I didn't really look at the fine-print - but with all this waiting I have time to kill.

So...who else paid these?

Dealer Inventory tax - $93.67 (fine print says this is not a government tax)
License - Title and "Other Fees" - $120.50
Documentary Fees - $125

This is of course in addition to the ADV and other mandatory Ford extras.

None of those fees have showed up on my paperwork and I've agreed to the out the door price already. If they try and tack on anything extra, I'm going to show them their paperwork and e-mails. If they do show up, I'll at least get some oil changes out of them.

They will def show up. I would call the dealer and just ask what are your doc fees. Don't even tell them you have a truck on order.

Documentary fee is charged by the dealer for filling out the papaer work to sell you the truck. It is just another crooked way to get you to pay for something the dealer has to do anyway, otherwise they dont sell cars. ADV Fee is advertising fee, I did not pay it because I ordered mine andthey were not going to advertise it anywhere. Sales tax yes I paid sales tax, but write it off on my taxes. Always ask and dont be afraid to say no I am not paying that. In most cases it is not required to pat a lot of extra fees....

I have never heard of anyone getting out of ADV. BTW ADV is not your dealership advertising. It's Mother Ford advertising. Ford charges their dealerships and then the dealership charges you.

legally they are supposed to discount the vehicle the amount of the fee and still charge you for the fee. they can be sued for discrimination if they "turn off" any fees for some people and charge it to others. pretty f'ed up system. after being around dealers alot, they need to make their money too though. people dont realize what a dealership actually makes for as much as they go through. its not much!

+1.

BTW, you should be able to get out of the doc fee, as was stated earlier. Around here they want $249, but all it amounts to is ADP (additional dealer profit).
