I am checking to see if anyone has had this issue happen to them. I was on my way home from visiting family for Easter, when after driving for 2.5 hrs I get an error message on the display saying "Blind Spot Detection Unavailable", a few seconds later "Collision avoidance malfunction", few seconds later the air bag light starts flashing. During this time the radio does not let you change or control any of the functions. The A/C also turns off and the blower is just blowing on low speed outside air, front windows won't roll down, door locks won't operate. Truck stays running fine with no power train issues. I continued on my way home and about 10 min later everything resets and goes back to normal. Did this one more time about an hour later and reset the same as before. Once I arrived home I pulled up my codes on my tuner and the only thing listed was a communications error.

I have driven the truck today for about an hour or two 75 miles in Houston traffic with no issues after I cleaned all the sensors and checked the fuses/ connections. I can't seem to figure out why this happened or what the cause is. The only thing I have noticed recently is my nGauge cycles power often. Truck will be in the shop in about a week for work and will have that addressed then.

I have never had any issues with the truck other than this, even with all the mods I have. When I have the truck in the shop we plan on reflashing everything just in case there is a gremlin hiding.

Trying to get any thoughts on what else might be going on here or if anyone has had anything like this.

Just got even worse. Jumped in to run to the store and immediately it went to this same issue. Came home tried to reflash the tune. Didn't fix it. Tried to flash back to stock and it won't recognize the tune. At this time it wouldn't even let me turn the truck power off. Had to flash back to the custom tune. That seemed to help, however now it doesn't recognize one set of keys. My guys are taking it in tomorrow and going through it. I am hoping it is a bad fuse or relay but a part of me thinks the computer is about to take a dive. Hopefully I can get them to give me a new unit under warranty but I am very doubtful. Will have to let my buddy work his magic with the dealership GM. He does a lot of work for them.

A fuse it for sure isn't. A fuse isn't going to fix itself once its blown. Relay, very doubtful.

Good luck.

My dollar is on a bad ecu.....

Hope I'm wrong good luck

I am thinking the same but seems like that would also effect the engine performance which it hasn't. Engine and transmission run fine. Only thing being effected are some of the control modules for HVAC, safety, radio/ navigation, and door controls. It is very odd.

Update.....Found the issue and in the process of fixing. Ended up have water in the passenger taillight which was causing the blind spot detection to malfunction. Since all the modules are in a series it caused a cascade effect of failures on the other modules. In the process of drying it all out now. Also have a set of new tail lights on order to just replace the factory since there was a bit of oxidation on the blind spot sensor and the internals of the housing.

Looks like I need to watch how deep and fast I run through mud holes and wet fields. There was quite a bit of dry mud around the housing and all the way up the inner fenders all the way up to the top where it meets the bed rail. All cleaned out now and back in service.
